She had surgery on 4/19 for a small bowel obstruction and herniation. She's actually had several small surgeries since then. At the moment, she has a vacuum pump hooked up to her incision. While she says she's in a lot of pain, she sounded good and strong. She said she might be moved to a regular floor if she can have a bowel movement. I told her she should ask her doctor if she can have some gum. Hey, you never know, maybe it will help, if the doc says it's ok. (I imagine the only danger would be that she might choke on it.) She did sound pretty unhappy, saying she had hoped to end up in there for revision surgery, but not something like this. She's got all kinds of equipment around her, and of course the staff is watching her very closely. (ICU = I see you, LOL) She says to tell you all that she misses you. Carole is down with a virus, which she describes as "grippe". She says she had a flu shot, but this thing sure feels like some sort of influenza.
