I take calcium in the form of dolmite. It can be purchased very reasonably in powder form. 1 level teaspoon contains 1100mg calcium (110%) 630mg Magnesium (158%) and 2mg iron (11%). As the body has trouble dealing with more than 500mg of calcium at a whack, have a half teaspoon mixed in juice twice a day. Painless :)

Calcium tablets

Does anyone know of any calcium tablets that are not so big? All theones I've seen are very hard and large, some like horse pills. I have ahard time swallowing these. They're always very solid tablets. Doesanyone make them in capsules like you can get with vitamin C?----------------------------------------------------Sign Up for NetZero Platinum TodayOnly $9.95 per month!http://my.netzero.net/s/signup?r=platinum & refcd=PT97

I get the calcium capsules bottle at a health food store. Mine are

not so big. Maybe you can go to a health food store and check it

out.

I have been takining OsteoMax which is a dissolvable tablet like an

Alka Seltzer. Each tablet has 500 mg of calcium and 250 mg of magnesium.

I'm JUST getting ready to try Cal Absorb which is a powder that you

mix into water --- the same ingredients PLUS Vitamin C.

Have you ever heard of Calcium +. It is a fantastic calcium drink!

(contains calcium it ionic form, combined with magnesium and

vitamin D). It is a powder that you mix with water. It is totally

absorbable and because it is in ionic form your body will not have

any problems to assimilate it. There are two flavors, grapefruit or

cranberry. Delicious! I love it! If you would like to know more

Additionall info: I asked my endocrinologist, whom I'm seeing for bone strength problems, if magnesium would help calcium absorption. He said that it wouldn't help except for people who have a very specific and unusual disorder. For the general peopulation, it would have no benefit except to help with constipation, if that's a problem.

You asked about iron tablets. Why do you need them? Not everyone needs them or should take them. Do it only if instructed to do so by your doctor; otherwise, they can cause damage.

I learned I'm anemic due to an ulcer, and my doctor prescribed iron tablets that did really bad things to my innards. A GI then suggested I use prenatal vitamins, which include a substantial amount of iron in a form that's much easier on the stomach.

(Anemia can be a very complicated situation, too much to get into here. Anyone who is told they're anemic first of all needs to learn what's causing the condition.)

Sorry for the mangled sentence. I meant:

Take iron supplements only if instructed to do so by your doctor; excessive iron can cause serious damage.

I don't have the bottle with me, so I can't tell the brand of pre-natal vitamins I use.

I currently take an OTC Cal-Citrate (4 tablets a day). It

has 400 IU of D3, 1000mg of Calcium and 500 mg of Magnesium. This

is combined with a daily prescription folic acid, OTC iron & vitamin C…a

once a week prescription D and once a month b12 shot.

The brand I use is “Way of Life” brand (It’s

next to the New Leaf in Capitola on 41st (used to be a in the New

Leaf). I also buy Cal-Magnesium sometimes instead. All the OTC

supplements I take are free of wheat, gluten, etc…etc…and all the

other allergens.

Of course! All my supplements are prescribed by my G.I. and I get

blood work done every 2 months to monitor it. I dealt with anemia that got so

severe, that I was on liquid iron…this was all before I was diagnosed with CD.

My anemia’s since improved and every year or 2 I don’t have to be on iron…then

it drops too low and I go back on.

I use Liquid Health Calcium Magnesium. I find liquid

vitamins are easier to digest and absorb, which is especially important if you

have impaired absorption. There are several liquid calcium supplements

out there to choose from. When I was pregnant I hated taking the huge

prenatal vitamin pillss and they always made me sick; plus I don’t think

much was absorbed. I never have that problem with the liquid vitamins.
