Have any of you been to Weird Fish? A friend of mine told me that the menu at Weird Fish, a restaurant in the Mission (SF), notes which dishes are gluten free. I haven't been, but I did check out the menu online. It's not entirely clear to me how gluten free their "gluten free" really is, since one of the dishes marked with a gf batter is fried seitan, which as we all know is wheat gluten, unless they make a gf version. Also, they offer a gf vegan soy batter for their fried items, but it's not noted if they fry the gf items in a dedicated gf fryer. There are many things on the menu that look like they would be gf (sauteed spinach, mashed yams, various fish dishes, tacos) but are not noted as such.

I think I'll give them a call tomorrow to see what's up and will report back.

Last night I ate with a bunch of friends at Medjool (Mission St between 21st & 22nd in SF) and although I was the only one gf, everyone insisted we order only gf items, which of course was a huge kindness and treat for me. The place offers many small plates to share. The server had the chef mark all the dishes that were gf, and I was delighted with the number of dishes that were starred! I particularly recommend the shrimp dish and the pommes frites (made in their own unshared fryer). For those of us who avoid distilled alcohol, they make a mean sangria.
