Guest guest
On Friday night I ate at Straits and the server brought me a printout of the entire menu in database form, with columns dedicated to various food issues/allergies, including gluten, wheat, soy, dairy, and nuts. It was great until I realized that some foods apparently contained gluten but were checked off as okay in the wheat column, though the only gluten containing food they use other than wheat flour is soy sauce (and so anything that wasn't ok in the gluten column should also have been a No in the wheat column). Once I pointed out that contradiction to the server, she areadily greed that something wasn't right and brought out the executive chef. He only started working there this month and he'd never seen the list before. He also wasn't versed in the issues of celiac and wasn't entirely sure what gluten was. But fortunately he was eager to learn, spent a lot of time asking me questions, and went over everything we ordered to make absolutely sure it would be safe for me. He came out each time something was delivered to our table to reassure me it was safe. He left me with the impression that he would make sure the database was updated and made completely accurate. We had a terrific meal, delicious and safe. I think Straits is in other locations as well, and I got the impression that he was the exec chef at all of them. If you eat at any of them, definitely ask for the printout (even if it hasn't been updated yet; it's a good starting point for the conversation) and see if the exec chef is around to help you out. I can't recall his full name but his first name is Ben. Tristan __ A Good Credit Score is 700 or Above. See yours in just 2 easy steps!
