Guest guest
I have a WishList set up on my TiVo to record any program with " gluten " in it's description. Today I noticed an episode of " We Mean Business " from A & E network recorded and featured the gluten-free bakery down in LA (Culver City) " The Sensitive Baker " . The host is Bill, the winner from the first Trump " The Apprentice " show. He and two others come into a failing business and help to turn it around. Apparently the Sensitive Baker was bleeding money big time and this 30 minute show was just fascinating - especially for all of us who dream of someday opening our own gluten free business (ideally in the south bay as there are few options unless you head down to Almanden Valley to that cheesecake bakery that also sells gluten free goods). I am so happy The Sensitive Baker was chosen for the show - can you imagine the heartbreak for folks down south if it went under? One very interesting point to make the business succeed was to market to the masses, not just gluten-free folks- especially since the baked goods are so yummy. I feasted on baked goods at Haley's Corner up in Kent, Washington and I think they could easily market to the masses as their stuff was delicious and you could not tell it was gluten free/dairy free, etc. At any rate, the episode isn't scheduled to re-air but it is available to watch online: http://www.aetv.com/we-mean-business/episodes/index.jsp just pull up episode 3 " Sensitive Baker " . enjoy- Jean
