Guest guest
Some have said they think that fresh pineapple, fresh papaya, papain extract, or probiotics such as (I think) VSL#3, Ultimate Flora, Flora Q, and Florastor might be helpful. On the other hand, the medical references I generally use say you just have to wait it out. It's a systemic reaction; more than your gut is involved, once you ingest gluten. Drink water when you feel able. It won't "cleanse" anything. It just keeps you from getting seriously dehydrated, which can happen. Best wishes. Guest guest
I've read that "forcing a purge" can put stress on your body, without helping -- because it's too late. Alas, you're may be purging involuntarily, anyway. H. Guest guest
I feel like an idiot, since I did it to myself -- I thought I was eating leftover gf spinach and shrimp but then after many bites realized I was eating leftover spinach and -- wheat gluten. In my own home! After being so incredibly careful since March, getting slightly glutened only twice when out at a restaurant, I cannot believe that in my own home I ate wheat gluten! It's been about 45 minutes and I haven't had any symptoms yet. The symptoms I've gotten before have "only" been brain fog and joint pain and fatigue, and considering I was in a car accident the other day, am in a neck brace, already have a lot of pain, and am foggy & sleepy from Vicodin, I may come out of this without really noticing a difference! Fingers crossed! Thanks for everyone's ideas and quick responses. I happen to have a fresh pineapple in my house, so I'm going to go gnaw on that! Wish me luck! Guest guest
To be truthful, there's just not much that is consistently proven effective as a remedy. I would suggest drinking a lot of water to stay well hydrated if your gut has a bad reaction. Some folks suggest club soda or ginger ale instead. Hope it isn't too bad for you. Guest guest
Hey, Ouch that's a bad situation. It really sucks knowing what's just around the corner. I've never tried this, but maybe someone out there could say if it's a good idea? Can you purge it somehow? Maybe you could avoid having it go through your system??? As in, throw up... Guest guest
Hi Tristan-- Just to make you feel better, perhaps the only thing worse than poisoning yourself is inadvertently poisoning one's child. I only recently figured out why my 8 year old daughter became violently ill after eating a lunch I provided last summer. My husband looked at the package of Ian's cookies we had in the cupboard and pointed out that the first ingredient was wheat flour. Needless to say, I had purchased a glutinous variety of Ian's cookies (which look just like the gluten free ones, by the way) by mistake. Ugh! Hope you feel better-- ________________________________________ From: [ ] On Behalf Of TrVerb@... [TrVerb@...] Sent: Friday, December 12, 2008 1:15 PM Subject: Re: [ ] Help! Guest guest
Hi Tristan, I am so sorry for you, that is no fun, but unfortunatley, mistakes do happen. And, well, I am not sure if this works for everyone, but I have had great results with Gluten Ease by Enzymedica. It's sold at Whole Foods or other vitamin shops in the digestion/enzyme section. I'm 29 and was just diagnosed earlier this year, so my family's not too supportive, my mom even tried to lie to me over Thanksgiving and tell me that a food was safe for me, which I supspected and found out from my aunt was not (so thankfully avoided). Anyway, the gluten hangover is never too fun and can delay its results for even two days in my experience. So when I am traveling and eating aout a lot (you can never be too careful!) or start to notice some old familiar symptoms I take the Gluten Ease enzymes. They may not work for everyone, but they've been a life saver for me. Good luck!!! www.NaturallyDahling.com --- In , " Palmer, " <palmer@...> wrote: > > Hi Tristan-- > > Just to make you feel better, perhaps the only thing worse than poisoning yourself is inadvertently poisoning one's child. Guest guest
Induced vomiting up can do a lot of harm, and I would not suggest it. You can aspirate the material into your lungs, get stomach acid in your nose and sinuses and risk damage to the throat and esophagus, depending on how you induce the vomiting. Guest guest
Smoke some pot, that's the only thing I've known to help with symptoms. A stronger indica variety I would suggest first, but whatever seems to suit you. If you are averse to psychotropic effects or unused to them I suggest settling in for the evening and watching a movie. If you are averse to smoke, edibles are available at medical dispensaries. If it's not available, it's always good to be prepared for next time. And why not call your congressional reps and ask them to oppose DEA raids on medical marijuana dispensaries and support senate hearings on medical cannabis. Good luck.
