HAS ANYONE HEARD OF DR KHALED KEBAISH FROM JOHN HOPKINS HOSP. IN

BALTIMORE MD? HE REPLACED DR JOHN KOSTUIK WHO RETIRED ABOUT 4 YRS

AGO. I AM HAVING SURGERY IN A WEEK. JUST LOOKING FOR ADDED

REASSURANCE. I HAD THE 1ST REVISION 5/07. THE RODS WERE SHORTENED

FROM T10 TO L1 AND I WAS FUSED TO THE SACRUM. NOW I HAVE A FRACTURE

ABOVE L1 AND AM BENT OVER BADLY. PAIN IS AWFUL TRYING TO KEEP MYSELF

UP. THE CURVE SEEMS TO BE GETTING INCREASINGLY WORSE DAY BY DAY.

THANKS FOR LISTENING PHYLLIS C

Phyllis,

Welcome to the group. I am so sorry to hear that you are going in for

re-revision. That must be grueling. Do I understand that DrKebaish is

NOT the surgeon who did the first revison and this will be your first

surgery with him?

I have heard of DrKebaish. From the main group site you can use the

search feature to bring up posts that have his name in it. A quick

search brings up posts from Judy and Jules. Judy did have her

surgery in 2007 and, come to think of it, we haven't heard much from

her but I bet if you email her directly she will be glad to share her

insight.

If there is anything else we can do just say so. There are two other

group members also undergoing revision next week (1st time) so you will

have a few surgical twins to go through this ordeal with. What is your

surgery date?

Peace,

Cam

Hi Phyllis,

I can't help you with the doctor, but you will be in a very advanced hospital. I know Dr. Yousem in the neuroradiology department. A little information for everyone here that needs a second opinion on your MRI'S and CT scans. Usually when you get these test done, they are read by a radiologist that is looking for what ever your doctor diagnosed or suspected. A lot of information can be left out. Dr. Yousem studies films and has found things in mine that no radiologist has ever reported before. He found I have two screw points protruding out past the bones and medal fragments from L2-S1 and Arachnoiditis. Now here is a kicker. I have actually bent one titanium rod that was straight in my first post surgery films. I asked my doctor how in the world they could be bent and he said "Now you know the force you spine has on it. Wow! He also reported a small kidney stone.

When are you having your surgery? I'm kind of new to this group and right now I'm in the learning mode. I too walk very bent over and it is causing me shortness of breathe. Do you sit bent over too? I can't lean back on anything, nor lay in bed. I don't look forward to having more surgery, but for the first time in years I have some hope that maybe I can be fixed and I dream of being able to stretch out in bed and sleeping cuddled up to my husband. We can't even hug now. I will be thinking and praying for you. Please keep us updated if possible.

Pat I.
