Guest guest
Re: the genetic test. After I was diagnosed via antibodies and biopsy for celiac, I had both my children tested for both the antibodies and the genes-- not because they had any symptoms, but so that (1) we wouldn't worry about their developing it if they didn't carry the genes and (2) we would be on top of any symptoms, typical or not, should they be carriers. Peace of mind is what we were after. If you know you carry the gene but don't have the disease, you're in a good position to be aware of any symptoms you might have that could point to celiac. Of course, being a carrier doesn't mean you will ever have celiac. Also, since you know you carry it, all immediate family members (your siblings and parents) should be encouraged to be tested since their chance of having celiac is now raised. My blood work is negative--I did the gene test because we suspected that my son has celiac (he does). So, I'm not really sure what the gene tests tells me, or would tell anyone, except to satisfy some curiosity. Marci **************New MapQuest Local shows what's happening at your destination. Guest guest
I was wondering if anyone on the list has done testing with Enterolab or has information or opinions on Enterolab's testing and results? Specifically, the gluten-sensitivity analysis and the gene testing. Thanks -Luther
