Heavens, when I saw the subject line I thought a lot of fish had washed up on the beach after this storm -- I briefly thought about walking down to pick edible ones. Glad I read further!

Getting them to a shelter does come to mind -- a five-minute walk from my house is a large seal rookery, where dozens of seals are giving birth this month. Damaged or truly abandoned baby seals are identified by docents and may be taken to the Marine Mammal "shelter" in Sausalito, if circumstances warrant.

I was trained as a Marine Mammal rescuer, but I learned that immunosuppressants I take for another autoimmune disorder mean I should keep my distance from the critters. I do enjoy watching the pups and mothers, though.
