There are not very many courses in Canada, as yet, but if you write to UVic's Centre on Aging, http://www.coag.uvic.ca/cdsmp/ , they might be able to work with your province to get one started. In BC, the Ministry of Health funds the program so it is free to participants. In other areas, there is a cost to take the program. If you know someone in your provincial government to help with the financing, then it will help to get the program in your province.

As I said, I just finished taking the leadership training with Mark Davies in . Mark works out of the Ladner office but has the qualifications to teach internationally. You may use my name, if you write to Mark's boss:

He might be able to direct you to similar programs, in your area, in the meantime. Some of the specific condition organizations have similar programs, like the Arthritis or the Diabetes.

It is designed to be taken as a complete group course, by Stanford University, to get the best benefit. The big part for me, was learning the actual steps for a weekly Action Plan in obtaining that ultimate goal and how to problem-solve when I didn't succeed in my Plan. There is a lot more to the course than that. Part of the management, we have talked about indirectly on this board. If you write to me, privately, I can give you more information and help work with you in getting a program in your area.

Where would a person begin to look for such a course? I am very much in need of mental strengthening so I can make a decision about revision surgery. I'm in Ontario, Canada but have never seen a course like that.
