Guest guest
Jeri, I used to work on H4/4 in the Pediatric area of UW Hospital and Clinics. Back in my 20’s I stood 8 hours/day on those terrazzo floors. I could never do that now. I know how frustrating negotiating that hospital can be, even if you do have the matrix system down pat! I hope the worst of that adventure is over for you! - From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of bocce_fun Sent: Tuesday, January 15, 2008 3:45 AM Subject: [ ] Successful Surgery CD & an adventure Hi Cam. I've listened to it several times, not on any planned schedule, though. We're having trouble finding an MP3 player that's reasonably priced and dependable. We bought an RCA 8Gigabyte one during the holidays (as a gift to ourselves), but haven't been able to find another... then the headphones I tried to use in bed were very uncomfortable. Now I have headphones but no MP3... I've been up all night with more discomfort/pain/numbness than I've had in a long time. My 6 hour adventure today -- at spine clinic and then 4 stops in UW Hospital (which is a frustration for normal people to find their way around, but a nightmare for " spacialy-challened " me), plus giving another pint to the Red Cross pooped me out, but I didn't realize until past 11 that I needed something to counteract the pain that my adventure cause (can you say, " SLOW LEARNER " ?) to help me sleep. Normal 1 acetominophen PM didn't work... added another one at 12:30... still no relief so added a quarter Tylenol 3 at 2:00 , and figured I might as well wait for full impact (if any) before I even try to lay down again. Seems like it's working. I guess I'll try again to sleep. Here comes another day without subbing (worse than a day without sunshine) Even though we have just enough $ to survive for our extremely frugal lifestyle, I am very luck I am so very very very lucky that hubby is patient and has a job with unlimited overtime (and can be 'on call' every weekend if he wants). A techie job only 5 minutes away. I am so very very very very very lucky. I hope that I can help anyone who needs it whenever my perspective could help. So far, I feel that my concerns are trivial compared to some of you. Jeri
Guest guest
, What years did you work on the pediatric floor? I was there in 1989 for my original fusion I had a really nice nurse who was about 9 months pregnant, and then of course there were other nurses. But I really remember the one because she was such a sweetheart. > > Jeri, > > I used to work on H4/4 in the Pediatric area of UW Hospital and > Clinics. Guest guest
Originally from Green Bay, I was a unit clerk for the UW Pediatric Outpatient Clinics from 1978 – 1981. Because I was so frustrated with the administration, I decided to go back for my masters in Hospital Administration. (Isn’t that always the way?) Masters program was at Xavier U. (and had my residency at The Jewish Hospital of Cincinnati) then worked at an 800 bed hospital in Springfield, IL 1985-1990. (I got married in Dec. 1989) Soooooooo, I missed you by a few years. Now I am a white haired stay at home mom to 3 kids in a very small rural farming community in west central Illinois. Are you from Wisconsin? Guest guest
, Well, I was born in Appleton, but I grew up in northern Illinois near Rockford (Machesney Park to be exact). Where in central IL are you? What a small world > > > > Jeri, > > > > I used to work on H4/4 in the Pediatric area of UW > Hospital and > > Clinics. Guest guest
Mt. Sterling, which is about 45 minutes east of Quincy and the Mississippi River. Very no-where’s ville but very Norman Rockwell-ish.
