Guest guest
Hi all- I'm new to this group for about a month now, been mostly reading posts for the time being. I wanted to let you know about a new yoga center in NYC (for those of you who live here or near here) that's for people with scoliosis and back pain. There is a Sunday morning class that is just for people with spinal fusions that I have been going to, and although I don't want to sound like an infomercial, its making a huge difference in relieving my daily pain (Ive got a 1983-vintage harrington rod that gives me a lot of trouble). Here's the info: Yoga Union 32 w. 28th st, 4th floor (near 6th ave) Sunday class: 10am, taught by Deborah Wolk 20$ (15$ for first timers) http://www.yogaunion.com Deborah's a good and knowledgeable teacher-- all the poses are extremely modified (no twists, no strain on fused spines, etc) and she gives you a lot of attention (its a small class right now!). Class is all ages, all types of surgeries, and all levels of familiarity w/ yoga. Also, Deborah is teaching a Yoga for Scoliosis workshop on march 15 at Yogasana in Brooklyn, NY. I went last year and there were a couple of people with fusions and people w/ all types of scoliosis (almost all women in the class). Here's info: http://www.yogasanacenter.com/workshp.html Cheers, Lize
