Hi:My job is having a working lunch soon, and they're ordering from La Mediteranee (SF/Berkeley locations). Has anyone ordered/eaten there before? If so, what was your experience and do they offer anything that is gluten-free?Please advise,Louise Louise Audellart + designlouiseaudell. com(510) 531-4607

Hi Louise,I often eat at the Berkeley location. (And I eat out at very few restaurants because I don't trust cross-contamination). A couple of years ago, I will told by a waitress who works at La Mediteranee that one of the other waitresses had celiac, so the restaurant was well aware of gluten issues. I have ordered the Chicken Pomegranate, and sometime order hummus with lots of veggies, and the dolmas, too. There are also many other items on the menu that are gluten free, but I can't remember which because I have my favorites. I always have the waitress double check with the chef for ingredients. I have never had any problem, but I tend to be assymptomatic, so my body doesn't react outwardly to gluten much, anyway. However, my gluten antibodies are extremely low whenever I am tested (and they were astronomically high before I went on a gluten-free diet), so I suspect that La Mediteranee is a good choice.Good Luck,CarynOn Jun 10, 2009, at 11:05 AM, Melita wrote:http://www.lamediterranee.net/I think that it is okay taste wise But I am not crazy about this kind of food. From: Louise Audell <louise_gd >Celiac Bay Area < >Sent: Wednesday, June 10, 2009 10:16:14 AMSubject: [ ] La MediterraneeHi:My job is having a working lunch soon, and they're ordering from La Mediteranee (SF/Berkeley locations). Great review Caryn; I would

encourage you to add La Mediterranee to the Restaurant and Business Review

database ( /database).

A reminder to all that the database is up and ready to be a resource for our

group!

Hi Pam,I would be happy to add the review of La Mediterranee to the database, but I am not sure how. When I went to the website, it looks as if I need to get a special password and log in. Is that correct? Perhaps others who aren't computer savy might have the same question.By the way, during the last number of years that I have been a part of the , I have very much appreciated all your postings. You are always so clear and you provide such important information. When I see your name, I pay extra attention! Thanks again,Caryn GottfriedOn Jun 11, 2009, at 11:13 AM, Pam Newbury wrote: Great review Caryn; I would encourage you to add La Mediterranee to the Restaurant and Business Review database ( /database). If I’m understanding you right, this would be just logging

on to your account (you have to have set one up to join the list).

I think the user name is your mailing address and the password is what

you would have put in when you made the account. If you forgot it, I

think there is an option for forgotten passwords you can use.

Thanks for the good words; positive feedback always helps.

Hi All

Just to chime in, we visit the Fillmore location quite regularly because the restaurant manager is a friend of the family. I never have issues eating at La Med. I normally order the chicken kebabs; they come with rice pilaf and a green salad. We always order the hummus/baba ganouch/tabouli (a no-no as it is cracked wheat) appetizer and we ask that the tabouli be put on a separate plate for the glutenites. They always bring me extra veggies for dipping.

When in the mood, I order the chocolate mousse or the flan for dessert; never had any issues.

All in all, I think Le Med is a great place to eat out at!
