However, they are not much different from most typical gluten-free mixes and do not have artificial colors, dyes, or preservatives (the latter to memory). They also do not contain dairy and can be reduced in fat and made dairy free if desired. There are plenty of alternative cake mixes (Namaste comes to mind) that serves those with multiple allergies. Personally, I probably won't buy them that often as I don't eat a lot of refined sugar stuff, but it is fun for the DH and I to have another option, and I think it is a bit refreshing to have a "normal" mix available gluten-free. It is especially nice for those who are newly diagnosed and sad at missing the easy, from the box accessibility of cake mixes etc. - > The only thing I'd be leery of is all the other ingredients they put into their mixes...ie lots of refined sugar, artificial colors or dyes, preservatives, etc....so, along with needing to be GF, it's really important to me that I eat as healthy as possible too. I make GF, DF, soy free, egg free cakes all the time from scratch; they're made with only the purest, freshest and organic ingredients. They whip up in no time flat and are SOOOO much better than any mix you can buy. > > > > > >
Guest guest
We got the yellow cake and the cookie mix. The Yellow cake is nice and spongy and has a good flavor to it. The cookie mix freaking rocks. It seriously tastes like the cookies my mom and I used to make pre-GF days when I was a kid. We made those from scratch, but still. They spread out all nice and thin and lacey, which is just how I like em. By far the best GF cookies I have come across.
