You're getting the double whammy, loads of MGS and all those nitrites and

nitrates. I saw one booth where they were serving salsa and guacamole -- all

pre-packed into plastic bags. It sure looked like fresh made, but it wasn't

and the guy manning the booth was pitching this stuff to some Mexican chefs,

telling them they'd never have to make either of these things again because

here it was, just open the plastic bag and serve it. So any time you're eating

in a Mexican restaurant, not even the salsa and guac are fresh anymore.

Except for the high-end stuff such as truffle paste, organic beef and lamb, and

small boutique food purveyors, the rest of the stuff is made by big

corporations and it's loaded with everything we should never eat. It really

looked

like I had two black eyes yesterday, today they're better, but man oh man, that

must have been one toxic load I put on my kidneys for that to happen.

MSG is a food enhancer. It's adding to foods that don't taste good

to trick us into thinking they are good. (It works, too!) I also

think it's a little bit addictive in the sense that the more you eat

the more you want! When restaurants make fresh food, they don't need

to add it. In the US, companies hide MSG in ingredients with

different names, because they know people want to avoid it. " Natural

flavors " , etc. Bah! I hope the labeling laws are more European in

You ladies know that MSG is a Neuro-toxin, right?

My dh was listening to some health report within the last few weeks, and he

came home all " jacked-up " about MSG and telling me that it was a Neuro-toxin

etc. I already knew it was, and was already trying to avoid it for our whole

family, but our Apraxic child most of all, but now I have dh's full support

on this, so it makes it easier to actually DO!

Aspertame is another one that was on their " no-no " list.

anyway-- Janice-- that would be why Mark is effected by the MSG in the food,

because our kids are already susceptible to the toxins, and it's something

that I feel they are very likely to be sensitive to and have it effect them in

their daily performance.

Like you, Heidi, I'm hypersensitive to MSG, and preservatives. It seems,

that the only safe diet for me, now...is fresh foods that are homemade.

I don't have a problem with using several good oils. Like, cold-pressed,

unrefined, pure virgin olive-oil, avocado oil, flaxseed oil, and coconut

oil. The bad hydrogenated oils that are in everything now...I can't

tolerate. I immediately get sick. As you know, I have to eat a

gluten-free diet. Now, I'm very careful about starches, too. Fermented

products may be a problem, too. And with these conditions that we have I

think alcohol may actually be dangerous for our systems. It's a

never-ending list! Carlene

I've been reading posts where people say that they've eaten gluten

from GF products from TJ's or other places. One thing to think about

is MSG. It can be hidden in foods by another name. I'd eaten something

without gluten and couldn't figure out why it was making me sick. It

was a Thai Kitchen Rice Noodle Bowl. It wasn't a one time thing. I'd

had the reaction before but just ignored it. I started searching

ingredients and discovered hidden MSG. The product had Autolyzed Yeast

Extract in it. I can't eat anything with that or I have gluten like

reactions.
