Guest guest
My husband and gf friends and I love Platano (which Luther already mentioned). The menu is Salvadorean and almost entirely, naturally, gf. (Try the aguacuate salad--yum!) Speaking of which, I recently returned from Costa Rica where I ate delicious GF food three meals a day without even having to make special requests. Almost all of the " comida tipica " foods are made of rice, beans, and corn (with chicken, fish, pork, or beef), and one has to go to the U.S. fast food joints (which are unfortunately springing up everywhere) to eat wheat. Right now the incidence of celiac disease in Costa Rica is very low; I wonder what it will be in a few years as the U.S. fast food industry continues to infiltrate there? --lp palmer@... ________________________________________ From: [ ] On Behalf Of TrVerb@... Guest guest
Yes, I've also eaten at Platano, several times, and it's delicious. There are also pupusas without cheese for those who don't do dairy. I spent six months in Central America in 2002-2003. That was back before I knew I had Celiac disease. In hindsight, those months were the healthiest I had had in a while, because local diets were gluten free. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Hey there, > > > > Does anyone have recommendations for good restaurants in the North Berkeley or Albany areas? > > > > I'm going out to eat in that area tonight (Thurs), so send me an email if you have a tip. > > > > thanks! > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > >
