Hi! I thought I'd ask and see if any of you had any ideas for me... My DH and I

will be celebrating our 7th wedding anniversary in early June, and I was trying

to think of somewhere special we could go for a really nice gluten-free friendly

dinner in the Bay area, or possibly go on a nearby, gluten-free friendly

weekend. I'm 7+ months pregnant so not terribly mobile or athletic these days,

and I'm also pescatarian (mostly veg) so don't want to go to a restaurant where

meat is the focus of the meal, unless it is amazingly sophisticated seafood with

emphasis on vegetables... Does anyone have any ideas of a special destination in

the Bay Area or within a day's drive? (Outback has been very disappointing

lately, and we do PF Chang's for special occasions but I'd really like this to

be extra-special.)

, this may be over the top, but we went to Danko in San Francisco for an extraspecial occasion. And we had a gift certificate. LOL  It's VERY pricy, but the food is out of thisworld. They are SO knowledgeable about gf DINING, not just eating. It was a lovely experience.

There was a lot of seafood/veg options, and really unique dishes. On Thu, May 28, 2009 at 4:38 PM, seamaiden399 <seamaiden399@...> wrote:

The mother of the chef (Josh Silvers) at Syrah Bistro in Santa is celiac. We have had two excellent tasting menus there for celebrations, one before and one after we knew my wife had CS. The second visit we notified the restaurant ahead of time and the waitperson when we arrived, and the food was equally great both times, including a GF dessert. There are a number of seafood items. See the menu at http://www.syrahbistro.com/dinner.html. How about Herbivore? There are two locations in SF, one on Divisidaro and one in

the Mission.

I just ate there yesterday for lunch, and since it's vegan, they're very

gluten-free friendly. If you ask, they will even sub any " pasta " dish with rice

noodles or quinoa.

For fancier, I LOVE Serpantine, but they are not vegan, just very accommodating.

Thanks so much!
