Guest guest
I have an L4-L5 hernia with pain to my leg and testicle and buttock. A doctor suggested facet blocks so I rang around and found a woman friend who had had these blocks. They only worked for a short time for her. Each time the pain came back the surgeon blocked off more nerves. Now he has almost blocked off the whole spine and my friend is still in pain. I decided against facet blocks. > hi > I need some help please > regarding facel joint injections > I dont understand the clinical terms so I will post my xray report > Partial sacralisation of L5 with left unilateral SIJ > articulation, Multilevel facet joint degenerative change but with > marks change at the L4-L5 level > Mild canal narrowing at L2 - 3 and L4 - 5 (images 3:8:9 and 3:30) no > focal protrusion or nerve root entrapement aeen. > I had my first facel joint injections in late febuary and due to go > in again a weeks time. > I have been trying to get feedback on how others went. > as when these injections was done into my back I was in exstreme pain > each facet joint he did, each time he injected the fluid in the lower > facet joint pain would shoot down my leg, on both side, and the top 2 > pain shot up to my neck, I was told there wasnt any pain, only > discomfort, can someone other relate too this, also afterwards I had > trouble walking like balance, and had trouble holding my " water " this > is embaressing, this condition stayed for about 3 days. > God Bless You > Pegasis > pegasis@i... Guest guest
Hi Everyone, Unfortunately the relief I got from the facet joint injections seems to have been short-lived. I think it was a case of feeling better and then doing too much, too soon. I started getting neck pain last night and today it stayed. Has anyone ever gotten more permanent relief from these injections? What does consistently work, besides narcotics is massage and Ice packs. Dave

Guest guest
I had four facet joint injections in L-3/4 & L-4/5 this past Tuesday at a surgical center. Dr. Boachie is the one that suggested the procedure, but my pain managment doctor (who is an anestesiologist) is the one that did the procedure. I was under with a mild anestesia and it was a breeze - I was quite surprised. It is now Friday and I have absolutely NO pain in the lumbar area. I went to work the next day. I just hope that this helps me for a couple of months (but I'm prepared if it doesn't - I hope so anyway!) At least we know that's the area that is causing the problem. I will keep you posted! Thank you all. Lynn
Guest guest
Lynn, Fantastic that you are getting some relief. Hopefully you will get some milage out of the injections (and perhaps future ones?). This revision business is never an emergency, so the timing of any surgery is all up to you...but I do remember feeling like getting out of pain WAS an emergency, so it will be nice to have a clear, painfree mind going through your future options.(Was that a long run on sentence, or what?) Keep us up to date! Take Care, Cam
