Guest guest
You know...I've tried these too and I really do like them but if I put too much on the brush it makes me feel like I want to peel it off my face. I usually don't wear makeup - Liz will tell you that LOL - but as I get older I think I would like to have a more even skin tone. I have to admit out of all the make ups I've worn over the years these products do what they are supposed to and most definitely are exactly as they are advertised with love, Jenni PS. Just my two cents added for inflation Proud Air Force Mom! May God guide and protect our troops! Bare minerals , You really outta try them! I first tried them a few years back, in the search for the 'perfect' foundation. Being stupid, when Iran out, I moved on in the search. I came to my senses and went back to them. I TOTALLY LOVE THE PRODUCT!!!! I volunteer at a soup kitchen and in the summer it gets really hot and you know what that means. Makeup just melts off. Not so with the Bare Minerals! Because it's NOT a liquid. With any other makeup, in a few hours all I want is to get the stuff off my face. Again, NOT so with BM! I never feel like my face is suffocating. I know there are many, many so called 'mineral' makeup's that have come along, and to be honest, I haven't tried any others, and I won't. BM was the first. You can go in for a makeover. Do you by chance have a store called ULTA where you live? They carry it as well, and will apply it on you too. You can get a starter kit there with the video, and they have the same money back guarantee. I really do believe if you try the product, you will love it. I don't have any of the LL body/face products but I've never had any problem using them over anything I put on my face first. Can ya tell I LOVE it!!!!! Guest guest
Wow, thanks Kiki for the information. Now I really want to try them. I don't wear makeup anymore but would love to have some for those special times.
Guest guest
Thanks Jenni, I haven't worn foundation for so long that if I put some on (for when we have pictures done professionally) I feel like I am suffocating. I can't stand that feel anymore!!
Guest guest
Ohhhh Connie, I agree, to weird! I've never met anyone who wears SKIN, before, in my life! All I can do now is compliment you on your GREAT taste...LOL Wondering to what else we do alike! Loveness, Kiki
Guest guest
Bonnie, Honestly if I were you, I'd go to the bare minerals web site and order one of their kits. The least costly has 2 foundation colors so you can customize if you wish, a mineral veil and a warmth. plus, 3 different brushes...kabuki, for really great coverage, {I think this is the one you'd like the best for coverage with the problems you mentioned. I can't wait to get mine!} the regular foundation brush, which is great too, and can be used for any of the products, which they all can be really, and the concealer brush, also great for those touch ups and just using to conceal. It also comes with a tape/DVD, a compact if you'd like to carry one of the products. Granted the product is a smaller jar, but the stuff lasts! And you get the brushes. The brushes alone will cost as much, actually more, than the kit. And trust me, you really should use GOOD quality brushes, for anything! The price of the least costly is a few cents under 70.00 plus S & H. If you can afford to get it, I really would. The makeup stays great! Like I had mentioned I work in a soup kitchen and it gets hot in there, no matter the season. But in summer, it stays looking great all day specially. And I'm not wanting to scratch my face off by the end of the day! I've even fallen asleep in it, forgetting I had it on. It also has other benefits of helping your skin heal. Have you even gone to the web site? You should, it's packed full of info! And I think you can call them too, and get help on what color{s}. Like I said too, I wear a darker one, cuz I always have a faux tan on. Personal preference. Any, that's my opinion, hope I've been of some help. I haven't worn it for 30 years like Jenni has, but I did make the mistake of using it then continuing to look for the perfect foundation, when I had already found it... Guest guest
Well this is to weird, Bonnie Bell Skin musk is my smell. I love the body spray. And I don't like the heavy oriental sprays either, I haven't really tried the flavor ones. I just like my Bonnie bell and have worn it forever too. Connie :-) Re: Bare minerals Oh my gosh! How could I have forgotten the one I've worn forever. It's Bonnie Bell, SKIN musk. It's the only musk I've ever liked on myself, and I've worn it, like I said forever! Which do you use? I like the flowery ones in the perfume. Can't stand the heavy ones, oriental scents specially. And forget the 'flavor' smells! I don't care what the so called experts say about men loving it and it attracting them...I HAVE NO desire to smell like a cookie! LOL K... Guest guest
Bonnie, I went ahead and ordered a set on Friday. I was concerned about getting the right color. I have a feeling I am more light than medium but the lady said that most people fall under medium. The great thing is this.........she said that if it doesn't work (color wise) all I have to do is send it back (won't cost much because they don't weigh very much) and they will send me the other color instead. I can't wait to get my stuff!!!
Guest guest
Bonnie, I ordered directly from their site. I actually went with the biggest package. (It has a few eye colors and glee and some other things that I am not quite sure what they are. LOL) I haven't worn makeup in over 12 years. I used to wear Kay and had a terrible reaction to it. I haven't been able to use anything on my face since then. I even have a difficult time finding cleansers on my face. I have yet to find a moisturizer that I can use. I sure hope I don't have any trouble with the BM products. Anyways, I went with the larger set because I want this more for special occasions. Like going to church every week and when we have pictures done. I don't plan on going back to wearing it daily. I am anxious to see how it feels. The few times I have tried any foundation in the last several years I couldn't stand how it felt. I felt like my face was suffocating. Did I help at all or just ramble a lot? Guest guest
-- what did you order? I'm thinking about ordering the TryME kit -- it has 2 brushes, a MineralEssence blush, a bareMinerals foundation, and something called setting powder..... Did you get yours directly from their site? Or is there a better place? (I'm going to use their site for at least my first order, their support is being very helpful....) Guest guest
, I use foundation, blush, mascara, and lipstick -- every day. I don't use much on my eyes, I think as you age and your eyelids get droopy it looks kind of bad....and an eyelift (surgical) is out of the question for me! Plus my skin is a tone that makes bright colors (like green eyeshadow) look garish..... when I did wear eye shadows, they were always charcoals and browns. I use some Kay products (my daughter sells it) but the foundation is heavy! And I can't stand it! I don't use any (commercially packaged) mositurizer anymore. I smooth some of Rashelle's comfrey/aloe gel on my face, particularly in the red areas or anywhere that's " sore " (I love this stuff, it's really made my facial skin much much healthier), then a bit of pure coconut oil over all -- dab it off (so that I'm not greasy-feeling) and apply foundation....you might want to try the coconut oil/comfrey gel on your face, I doubt that it can hurt.... And for cleanser I've been using the soap that came with the Night Magic wrap -- a bottle of liquid green -- it's really mild and feels good on my face, no burning or anything.... At night I also do the comfrey gel/coconut oil, but I don't dab it off -- probably just get the sheets good and greasy! LOL! Bonnie Re: Re: Bare minerals Bonnie, I ordered directly from their site. Guest guest
I've been using Neutrogena's minerals powder make-up, and I like it! I don't know how this product compares to what you bought, Molly. On the web site, the starter kit is $60. I might just buy the make-up to try when I run out of what I've got. It is going down fast--perhaps I'm overly generous in 'poofing' it on with the attached brush! :-) I like make-up--it's fun and looks good on me--with a light touch! That's why I like the powder. I think I look OK with just lipstick, too, like around the house--I go out that way, too, when I'm in a hurry. I stopped 'tanning' in my mid thirties and have pretty nice skin at 65...for a So. Calif. beach girl!
Guest guest
Molly, I love Bare Minerals makeup....I bought the sample kit directly from Bare Minerals, and mine included the foundations, the warm glow, the mineral veil, (these are all powder) and then I bought the mascara, eye liner, blush, lip liner and lipstick separately at Ulta. The eye liner and blush are powders. It was my first experience using a powder eye liner and I love it. It does make my eyes itchy like my Maybelline liner used to. I find the foundations to be perfect for me...I was never a foundation wearer to begin with, as I felt the liquid clogged up pores and such, but with the mineral foundation, you don't get that. It leaves a nice matte finish and covers up the flaws beautifully. I've gotten compliments on my skin when wearing Bare Minerals...you can't tell you're wearing it! I hope you like it....I just love the idea of natural makeup, of course, and yes, I have slept in mine! Patty Bare Minerals I have heard about this for so long, and I saw someone mention it here.I just bought a 'sample' set on Ebay. I have never used it before. Is it all powder? What do you all think of it?
Guest guest
I bought the kit also, and I bought eye liner & shadow separately, as well. I have not worn makeup for quite some time. But I am feeling better, and am taking more care with my appearance now. I have old makeup that I am afraid to even use - so I will throw it out. I can't wait to get these and try them! > > Molly, > I love Bare Minerals makeup....I bought the sample kit directly from Bare Minerals, and mine included the foundations, the warm glow, the mineral veil, (these are all powder) and then I bought the mascara, eye liner, blush, lip liner and lipstick separately at Ulta. Guest guest
I LOVE BareMinerals make-up. I'm not a big make-up wearer but it is so natural looking I use it all the time. I never feel like I am wearing any make-up at all. I bought the starter kit too, and it lasted me many months-- it was definitely a good deal. I use the warmth as a blusher, and the mineral veil if I go out at night. I also love that their make-up has a sunblock effect. It's nice to have excellent make-up options that are non-toxic. Guest guest
Louise,I have been using bare minerals for about a year now. I like it because it does cover up a lot of blemishes. Now I have never had a reaction (as far as I know of) from any skin care products that aren't GF.But then again I have other issues such as diabetes 2 that cause my blemishes to heal very slowly.Otherwise I am quite happy with the product line. I just use the blush, the foundation base and the mineral veil.MelitaFrom: "flatcat9@..." <flatcat9@...> Sent: Wednesday, May 13, 2009 10:41:14 AMSubject: Re: [ ] Bare Essentuals Cosmetics Louise, yes, I've tried Bare Essentuals makeup. They used to have a location a few minutes' walk from my house! It's best to try before you buy. It worked fine on me, was awful on a friend. The pluses: a light dusting of powder covers a lot of skin unevenness. A little container lasts a long time. I found it quick and easy to put on for just running out to the grocery store. The negatives: It doesn't work well with every skin type. I suspect that it would look "too much" if you covered your face completely with it, as you might be more likely to do with a liquid foundation. Remember, you don't need to buy all the Bare Essentuals products at once, or ever! A few years ago, a friend gave me various products when she quit using the line. I liked the concealing powder; other products were okay, but I never got around to using them. Back then, the blusher colors lacked subtlety, but they may have better ones now. Sephora carries the line; can you get to any of their locations? H. ************ **Dell Mini Netbooks: Great deals starting at $299 after instant savings! Guest guest
I've also been using Bare Minerals for a while now. Note that RareMineralsâ„¢ Skin Revival Treatment contains wheat germ, so not all of their skin products are gluten-free. Also, I seemed to remember that their blemish products contained wheat, but when I read the label today they don't seem to have it anymore. Celiac researchers say that topical gluten does not cause a gluten antibody response in Celiacs as it requires ingestion, but I do watch gluten in my lipstick, and figure it is probably a good idea to avoid powdered products that I could breath in. The powdered foundations should be fine. Since you're looking for a GF makeup, do read the label of each product before purchase. The initial investment in the powders is high, but once you're just getting the powder it's not bad at all. You will need a brush cleaner as the brushes get nappy after repeated daily use. As far as covering stuff up, I don't find they do that great of a job as cover-up. I use an concealer stick (not by Bare Minerals). Also, I suspect this product works best on oily skin rather than dry. Mine is dry and if i don't moisturize heavily before application, it can turn out dry and flaky, and settle into creases. I think it's fine as a relatively natural product, and am not personally worried about breathing in a little mineral dust. *shrug* -
