Dear Blessmyown,

As far as female surgeons spoken about here, and members have experience with, and have had surgery with, comes down to just one name, Dr. Serena Hu in San Francisco, at UCSF Medical Center. Here is her info:

Dr. Serena Hu

UC San Francisco Spinal Disorders Service

400 Parnassus Ave.

Third Floor

San Francisco CA 94143

415-353-2808

Just why this list is sooooo short, I think ortho docs tend to be male in general, and this work in particular is physically demanding, and that may play into it. My doc is male, and speaks often about how many of his counterparts just aren't interested in doing revisions( these being male) because of the long hard hours, the difficulty of the surgery, and that it is plain hard work. My doc does revision in one surgery not staged, mine took 12 hours, and I've been at the hospital for other patients surgeries that have gone 14 or fifteen hours. Know there maybe more female doc's out there, but Dr. Hu is spoken about here, has patients here, and is a big name in this surgery.

Hope this helps.
