Guest guest
My doctor diagnosed me Monday with hypo after having blood tests done last week. I have been doing research and realized that my TSH rating is of 42.3 is extreme. She did say it was severe, but only left a message on my voice mail, and prescribed me the meds and said I would be feeling better in a few weeks and I need to be re-tested in 4-5 weeks. In reading several articles and posts, it seems my level is extreme. In fact, I haven't had seen anyone's higher than mine! Any comments? I'm pretty scared! rivergal777@... ********************************************************************************\ ************ M. DeRosby, Branch Manager Capital Title Agency Inc. 330 S. Guest guest
A tsh of 42 is severe, be sure you do go back for your follow-up. I've had a tsh of 191 after I miscarried twins 12 years ago, and a tsh over 100 four years ago. Then my tsh went up to 120 and my dr had his nurse call and tell me I'd be fine if I just took my meds. (I found a different dr.) So it is good that your dr. is acknowledging the numbers are severe. After consulting with a nutrition scientist, I was able to get my tsh down to 1.6. He has been continually helpful, the problem is the drs. handling of my thyroid meds and getting ongoing labwork. After I got down to that 1.6, my new dr. decided to keep me at a hyperthyroid tsh(works for others, but was disastrous for me). The endo sent me back to my local dr. who messed me up again, and I headed back up to 9tsh. I worked with my NS and got the tsh down to 3.6, but hit a stressful crisis, lost my latest pregnancy at 6 weeks a month ago, and my latest tsh is around 12. I just consulted with my NS in person over the weekend, and he redesigned a nutritional regimen based on all the new labs I had available. I found a dr. who understands thyroid, and interestingly after my visit to him, found out he is on the top doc list, so I'm looking forward to hearing his response to all my labs. He also took a look at the list of supplements on the previous regimen, and felt that it was right on, which was also very encouraging. Hopefully this dr. is what you need to deal with your thyroid problems. Get the follow-up test, and hopefully the dr. will make the adjustments you need. Guest guest
I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism in 1989. I felt like I was dying (the doctors were about to test me for leukemia), and after they finally did a thyroid test it was obvious why I felt so awful. My TSH was 158. There is, of course, a longer story to accompany this information, but I just wanted to tell you that I'm living proof a person can have a ridiculously high TSH and still be hanging in there 12 years later! Guest guest
Thanks for sharing! I thought I was the onlyone who felt like I was dieing. I was so weak I was in bed for months. I was a high energy person before that. Carol gnuvision@... wrote: I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism in 1989.
