Guest guest
As far as I know the spleen just doesnt " go " anywhere. It may stop working correctly and can be surgically removed without too much danger to the patient, but never has a spleen just up and gone. Perhaps they meant " gone " as in it doesnt work its just gone..I have no other rationale for that statement ehehhee Jody --- Dunn <jdunn@...> wrote: <HR> <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC " -//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN " > <HTML><HEAD> <META content= " text/html; charset=iso-8859-1 " http-equiv=Content-Type> <META content= " MSHTML 5.00.2614.3401 " name=GENERATOR> <STYLE></STYLE> </HEAD> <BODY bgColor=#ffffff> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>Are there other people on this list who found that they no longer had a spleen when they were diagnosed with AIH?</FONT></DIV> <DIV> & nbsp;</DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>Did they receive any explanation as to what may have caused the spleen to go?</FONT></DIV> <DIV> & nbsp;</DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>We have never had a real explanation; only the comment that it had been seen before. Guest guest
Interesting! Did yours disappear? I don't have a spleen but it was removed in 1968 due to ITP, another autoimmune disease that destroys platelets. In 1993 I was diagnosed with AIH. It has been suggested that there is a correlation between the autoimmune diseases but not because I have no spleen. As you probably know it is not unusual to have multiple autoimmune diseases since the immune system is messed up! janell
