I really like Dr. Uma Mahadeven, gastroenterologist in SF. She takes Blue

Shield HMO, so probably Blue Cross as well.

Celiac Bay Area

Subject: [ ] 1st Biopsy - Dr. Visit

....thought I'd keep those who are interested in the loop...

Does anyone know about M. Man, MD (SF) Internal Medicine,

Gastroenterology?

I went to him for my first celiac test back in 2001. He wasn't very nice then,

and tried to avoid giving me this test in the first place. Then wasn't convinced

it was CD because the test result was so low. Just wondering if anyone else has

met with him recently - and perhaps he's changed his " attitude " since then about

Celiac.

I visited my primary doctor (I've had for 11 years), Hilbert (SF), she's

great. She agreed that a biopsy might be the right thing to do, since Dr. Man

only tested for antibodies back in '01, and there's been no follow-up since

then, other than my gluten-free diet for 7-8 years. That enough time has passed

with the diet, it would be good to see how I'm recovering, and that if Dr. Man

isn't willing to do this test, we can get a second opinion with another

doctor...any recommendations for different Dr. in SF under HMO Blue Cross?

Also, back in May '09 we tested for pre-diabetes, electrolytes, the thyroid, the

liver, and iron deficiency, etc...all tests came back fine.

She's also sending me to a Dietitian to ensure I'm getting all the right

nutrients, and also because I'm having such a difficult time loosing weight post

baby (and it's been 2 years!)

I do too, very much, tho find her less knowledgeable on celiac and biased towards crohn's.Dr aron, despite the many documented issues seems the best to me for diagnosis.I'd do tests with dr a and then switch to dr m. Just my two cents.----- Original Message -----From: < > < >Sent: Wed Sep 23 11:51:48 2009Subject: RE: [ ] 1st Biopsy - Dr. VisitI really like Dr. Uma Mahadeven, gastroenterologist in SF.
