Guest guest
Hi,So I'm dairy and gluten free and one thing I would love to find is a protein bar I can eat! Not a "food bar", which usually has a lot of carbs and sugars and fats, but a real protein one. Another question I have is I eat a LOT of peanut or almond butter on rice cakes (I LOVE those flavored ones they have at berkeley bowl, they are on sale right now too btw!) and I'm trying to loose a little weight, so I'm looking for something that is lower fat/calorie but still has enough protein and is easy like the nut butters (am I dreaming?) I've tried some of those lowfat type peanut butters and they are NASTY! Also just general info about stuff with lots of protein and not lots of fats and sugars would be great! I just don't tend to eat a lot of meat and its not as easy to eat on the go too (beef jerky would be so perfect if I could stand the stuff!)Thanks!CoryP.S. if anyone knows any place between Alameda and Laney college where I can grab a quick GF and DF bite when I forget to pack lunch, that would also be great! Guest guest
yes, but they are still fat and sugar! And still have lots of calories, I get enough of those good fats other places, hence the reason I am looking for something else, a protein bar. Guest guest
i have some other health issues so i use either diabetic bars or bariatric bars i have found alot that are gluten free, and they have high protein but low sugar in them. kc > > > > > > Thanks Pam! I google the pure fit and they have more protein than anything else i've found! They have a bit more sugar than I'd like, but less than a lot of them and less fat too. I know soy isn't that great for me, but since I CANT do ANY dairy and rice protein tastes really nasty to me, I dont always have much choice! I mostly use them for when I'm out climbing all day and need some serious protein thats easy to carry, but they are also good to have along in case I'm stuck somewhere without food. Now I just have to figure out where to buy them around here. I actually just read an article in a paper somewhere that talks about how exercising is really good for you, but is NOT particularly good if you are trying to loose weight, that people need to focus on calorie reduction much more (although still exercise for many reasons!) I really need to figure out an alternative to my mainstay of nutbutter on rice crackers, although its a fairly healthy option, NOT low calorie. Good luck in your weight loss quest as well. > > > > > > From: pknewbury@ > > Date: Sun, 4 Oct 2009 20:04:54 -0700 > > Subject: [ ] more protein, less fat and sugar? > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Pure Fit and Think Thin are two " protein bars " that > > might fit your bill (although as was mentioned, Think Thin has dairy).
