Butterfinger affair

After checking online to try to sort out the whole

Butterfinger issue, I was getting so many confusing options I decided to call

the company to clear things up. I fished the Butterfinger wrappers (from

Merrick’s Halloween stash) out of the trash and found a phone number to call.

Here is what the official Butterfinger representative told me.

The good news: Butterfinger candy bars are Gluten-free

EXCEPT for the ones listed below.

The bad news: The 5 ounce bar is processed on the same line

as bars that contain gluten, so they may be cross contaminated. The same

situation holds for the Butterfinger Pieces in Milk Chocolate (the little round

balls). Both these items are not gluten-free. Butterfinger Crisps

and Butterfinger Stixx (all sizes/types) are also NOT GF.

If you aren’t sure, check the package for information

about allergens; Nestle’s policy on allergens states that gluten will be

listed if it is in the product or if the product may be cross-contaminated.

So, with a bit of caution, celiac Butterfinger fans may

indulge their cravings!

Have more questions? Here’s the Butterfinger

connection: 1-800-310-0412 M-F, 8am to 8pm ET.
