Guest guest
Have you had a celiac test and/or biopsy done by a doctor? Having CD is quite different from a food sensitivity. It requires a life-time commitment to a GF diet; it's not something to undertake lightly. Once you go GF, testing is much more difficult, with results that are more uncertain. If you have reason to suspect that you have CD (bearing in mind that about half those with CD have no symptoms at diagnosis), I strongly recommend that you talk to a GI or at least a GP and discuss having a blood test, perhaps in league with a biopsy/endoscopy. CD is an autoimmune disorder, rather than an allergy. Those who have one AD have an increased likelihood of developing another. Any untreated AD can trigger others. H. I just found out that I need to cut out gluten AND soy AND egg from my diet! (I had a food sensitivities blood test done through a nutritionist/naturopath in Menlo Park.) Are there a lot of other folks on this list in the same boat, or is there a sub group of some kind? Thanks for your help, Kathy -----Original Message----- From: kathyschrenk <kathys@...> Sent: Mon, Dec 7, 2009 5:01 pm Subject: [ ] New to this list: sensitive to gluten, eggs AND soy! Guest guest
We are gluten, soy, dairy and nut free. If you need any guidance let me know. Guest guest
I can’t do soy either, so ditto what Eileen just said. Also, while my son can tolerate an egg here & there, he cannot tolerate them as a regular part of his diet. DO be sure to email me off list if you have any specific questions – I don’t always pay attention to these emails. Guest guest
The combination of allergies to gluten, soy, eggs, dairy, and nuts is surprisingly common, roughly 10% of our orders are gluten/soy/egg/dairy/nut-free. For these baked goods, we use gelatin or flaxseed as an egg substitute along with rice milk and our gluten-free flour mix (we now sell the flour mix online). Be careful when buying rice milk, because some brands contain soy. Here is a list of our products that can be made without the allergens above: http://www.allergyfriendlypastries.com/sfproducts.html By the way there is another local group called peanutfreesf, there are some people on that list with the same combination of allergies: peanutfreesf/ Thanks, Kraft Business Manager Let Them Eat Cake, The Allergy-Friendly Patisserie LLC http://www.allergyfriendlypastries.com 408/940-6887 > > I just found out that I need to cut out gluten AND soy AND egg from my diet! Guest guest
I'm in the same boat plus almonds and cashews. I also just added dietary yeast to the list. Blah. So, baked goods are pretty much out for me. It's very restrictive, but I feel better, so it's worth it. > > I just found out that I need to cut out gluten AND soy AND egg from my diet!
