Guest guest
Hi , i just bought one of these not long ago after doing some research and asking around. I can't remember if it has the mayonnaise attachment but it must bc i'm sure i've made mayo in it. It's a GREAT machine. I love mine and wonder how i survived so long in the kitchen without it. When you've got a lot of veggies to chop it's great. I use it for 2-gallon batches of sauerkraut. I also bought a separate blade for thicker slicing to do my beef jerky as i like to do 10 pounds or so at a time. It's pretty nifty (the slice blade it comes with works too but is pretty thin). I buy cheese in bulk amounts and grate it all to store in the freezer and the machine is awesome for that. It's easy to use and clean. As for mustard seed -- i tried flax and it won't grind flax. Blades too big. But it grinds walnuts into a flour just fine. I think a Cuisinart under 14 cups isn't worth the money. It is SO nice not to have to keep dumping out the bowl. This is the third food processor i've owned and the others were a waste of money -- this one is well constructed. I have the older looking model that doesn't have the dough hooks as i use my kitchen aid for that (although i'm told the cuisinart makes the best pie crust). I bought mine at Sonoma. They said they won't sell the Kitchen Aid food processor bc they had so many problems with them. Guest guest
So it does 'pulse'? The place I'm thinking of ordering from said they didn't know if it 'pulsed'.....which is important in NT recipes I've noticed. The newest 11 cup model (a sleeker model) is the SAME price....I'd rather have a larger bowl and forgo the 'sleek' look, lol. Thanks for the info. ps...I lost another 1 1/2 lbs! Although getting frustrated trying to calculate points for meals....last night we had the chicken and rice soup in NT, and I had NO IDEA how to figure the points. *sigh* I just tried to have a modest portion. When I asked at meeting today, I got several people telling me to just give it up and eat all the WW 'Smart Ones' and all this processed crap so it's easier to calculate points. My leader even went so far as to say I was being too stringent, and that this is about NUTRITION. To which I almost remarked I'd rather eat natural whole fat foods than mechanically engineered psuedo-foods just so I can continue to gorge myself on sugar and salt licks. *ugh* I must say it *is* tempting when others who have lost enormous amounts of weight are telling me how many points m & m's are, how low-fat Pringles are delicious, and fat free cheese is a must to survive this eating plan. I'm thinking their philosophy is that being thin *is* healthy.....which I don't believe. There are many unhealthy thin people out there....it's just their outer shell is more socially acceptable. Ah well, this weight will come off, be it ever so slowly. Re: Food processors Hi , i just bought one of these not long ago after doing some research and asking around. If I can't lose weight with healthy foods, I'd rather stay cuddly. I'd still be healthier. Cheers, Tas'.
Guest guest
Hi- I'm looking into buying a food processor. Has anyone used the Hamilton Beach Big Mouth. It's more inexpensive than the Cuisinart and other high end models. But, does it work well? I like that it has a large shoot (Big Mouth). Is the shoot larger than the high end models? Thanks, Jafa __________________________________________________
Guest guest
Hi:I'm thinking of purchasing a food processor, to prepare more healthy foods at home, and I'm hoping some of you might have one and have some advice.I've noticed in many of the recipes I have they want an "S" blade, etc. But, I'm not finding this type of blade on *any* of the food processors I'm looking at (online), from cheap ($50) to expensive ($200). Are these types of blades a thing of the past? I'd like a food processor that can puree (soups and raw food recipes) and chop veggies for stir fry.I tried a cheap one from Walgreens, it was super noisy and didn't work well, even for chopping. It was sent back. Please advise,Louise
Guest guest
LouiseThis is what they mean by the S bladehttp://www.nextag.com/568055633p/prices-html?nxtg=44fa0a280516-14B20AE257F0260CMost of the processors have this.I wouldn't go cheap on this. Check out your & Sonoma for ideas on the high end types. Then check out Amazon.Just a thought. But then again I am a spazz in the kitchen but I have found great items that way for pricing. :)Melita
Guest guest
My Cuisinart Mini-Prep Plus has one – try Bed Bath & Beyond, that’s where my husband picked our up. In fact, it looks as if all the Cusinarts havr one: http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/search/search.aspx?order_num=-1 & sstr=food+processor & dim=1 & nty=1 & Plus, BB & B has a lifetime guarantee on their stuff. If you don’t like it, you can return it. If it breaks, they will replace it – FOREVER! I even burned through the electrical cord of one of my appliances (my fault, I turned on our gas stove with the cord over it), and they STILL replaced it for free. Guest guest
Louise,My recommendation, if you have the money, is to get a VitaMix. I've been saving for one and don't have one yet, but I know several people who have them and OMG. They are AMAZING! It will puree flax seeds, emulsify fruits and veggies, you name it, this power house machine can do it! Lifetime warranty too:) Good luck! Don't go cheap. I've wasted more money trying to save~JemmaOn Fri, Sep 18, 2009 at 7:24 AM, Louise Audell <louise_gd@...> wrote: Hi:I'm thinking of purchasing a food processor, to prepare more healthy foods at home, and I'm hoping some of you might have one and have some advice.
