Guest guest
I can’t really help you with cheap, per se, as the only place I have been (Kru) is not. But if you do a Yelp search for GF in LA, I found a ton of things, none of which I’ve yet to try. There is, as always, In-N-Out. I don’t know where in LA you will be, but there is an In-N-Out on Sunset, kinda close to all the studios. I don’t think it gets much cheaper than that… Or, if anyone knows a way for me to save all the URLs I have in my bookmarks, let me know, and I can forward them to you. Guest guest
There are lots of Outback Steakhouses around the southland...LynnOn Jan 25, 2010, at 7:33 AM, Lillyth Denaghy Keogh-Quillan wrote: I can’t really help you with cheap, per se, as the only place I have been (Kru) is not. Guest guest
Check out the Sensitive Baker in Culver City if you get a chance. They don't have prepared food but you can stalk up on the best GF bagels around. Whenever I go to LA I buy a few package of their onion bagels and keep them in my freezer... Guest guest
Just a bit of a heads up about Mc's fries. This is off their website:French Fries:Potatoes, vegetable oil (canola oil, hydrogenated soybean oil, natural beef flavor [wheat and milk derivatives]*, citric acid [preservative]), dextrose, sodium acidpyrophosphate (maintain color), salt. Prepared in vegetable oil (Canola oil, corn oil, soybean oil, hydrogenated soybean oil with TBHQ and citric acid added topreserve freshness). Dimethylpolysiloxane added as an antifoaming agent.CONTAINS: WHEAT AND MILK *(Natural beef flavor contains hydrolyzed wheat and hydrolyzed milk as starting ingredients). That just don't sound safe to me.CherylFrom: Pam Newbury <pknewbury@...>Subject: [ ] cheap gf in LA Date: Monday, January 25, 2010, 11:58 AM El Pollo Loco is good, cheap, has many GF offerings, and 36 locations in LA. The chicken is fabulous, and you can also get the soft (corn tortillas) tacos, salads, rice, beans, veggies, and flan for dessert! You can probably eat well in most Mexican restaurants (watch out for the tortilla chips: always ask if they are fried in oil that might be contaminated by gluten). Mac ’s is also useful in a pinch (hamburger, no bun, and French fries). You can also check out the restaurants listed as gluten-free- friendly on Urban Spoon: http://www.urbanspo on.com/t/ 5/1/LA/Gluten- Free-Friendly- restaurants Pam ,_._,___
Guest guest
Astroburger on Santa (around 7800 block) was good with me using a fresh spatula, etc... I love their chicken w/o the special sauce (not gf) wrapped in lettuce. Kind of a meager meal but hits the spot at 2am after leaving a bar (Bar Lubitsch right there is one of my favs) There are other good spots I found through Urban Spoon. One of them called Nickel diner I believe towards downtown only had 1 gluten free entree but it was awesome (and cheap, called a cassole or something like that). Those are my recommendations.
