Guest guest
Dr. Mercola writes: http://www.mercola.com/2006/jul/29/how_you_can_support_important_us_di etary_legislation.htm I rarely ask you to send a letter to your Congressman about health issues, but the Dietary Supplement and Non-Prescription Drug Consumer Protection Act (Senate bill S. 3546), which would treat dietary supplements more like drugs sold behind and over the counter, is an important exception. Not only would this bill compel companies to report side effects of dietary supplements, but it also encourages consumers to discuss any adverse reactions with their doctors prior to sending a complaint to a retailer or manufacturer. This could lead to a suppression of valid, useful information, and could result in supplements being blamed for drug side effects or a food intolerance. Although I generally believe people rely far too much on supplements as a crutch for not eating the healthiest foods, some are necessary. And, if you desire to take responsibility for your own health, it's important that you retain the freedom to choose and buy the supplements you want -- and in the concentrations you prefer. If you support freedom of choice, please take a few moments to send a letter to your Congressman. Note: I totally agree with Dr. Mercola that all Americans should take action, and write a letter to their Congressman. Go directly to his article and click on " letter to your Congressman. " Norway already has highly regulated supplements by legislation and even vitamin C is limited to RDA amounts, which is 200 mgs., and many supplements that do not have RDA amounts will be classified as drugs requiring a prescription from a doctor, and also that supplements must only be obtained at a pharmacy!!! It also means very high prices can be charged for supplements, like the cost of drugs. Drug companies do not like competition to their evil substances by natural supplements, and this is evidence of their work towards eliminating that competition! Please do not let this happen. This bill takes away your freedom of choice. That's not democracy; that's dictatorship. Bee
