Guest guest
Hi Everyone: It was 4 years ago on April 5 that I had the revision surgery. It'll be 3 years this June that I had the iliac screws removed. I'm going to see Dr. LaGrone next week for a check up (assuming I can get rid of this nasty cold). I'm still very pleased overall with the results. My ongoing challenge is stretching the hamstrings. I started having some nerve pain in right leg last year, and when I saw Dr. LaGrone last year, he said to really work hard at stretching the hamstrings, which may help the nerve pain. Well, I'm glad to say it has helped. I still walk/hike alot and do some at home rehab exercises I learned at hospital rehab. I notice that if I do not keep up my exercises, my muscles really tighten up, so I believe for me, it's a way of life, and stay diciplined in this. I'm working part time and am still very active in emergency preparedness as a volunteer. This year I wanted to try to do something I'm afraid of, so recently took a two day handgun class. Completely took my fear away! Never thought I'd try it, but glad I did. Not sure how good it is for my spine, but will ask the Dr. about it when I see him...lol. I am happy to say I still have no regrets from having this surgery (I'm going to be 58 in a couple of months). There are certainly things I can no longer do, but have managed to work around things quite well. Again, with alot of hard work, which is on going, but well worth it for me. I wish all of you well, and hope those who are contemplating this surgery do their homework, and visit more than one very reputable surgeon, and take lots of notes! For those in recovery, please take it easy, and give yourself plenty of time to heal. My best to all. ette (NM)
