Guest guest
Hi everyone, Sorry I haven't been in touch sooner but my computer broke and had to get a new one. I'm still in the process of setting the new one up but I want to take the time to update you on my progress. I'm 6 weeks post-op and doing very well. Pain has lessened but still remains troublesome at the shoulder blades and right below the neck. I've dropped my Tramadol dosage from 3 a day to 2 a day. I've been outside walking and have even done a little food shopping. Very little food shopping since I don't want to carry more than 2 pounds! My wound is still being treated by the plastic surgeon; am going there tomorrow. Next appt by Dr. Errico is 11/20, at which time x-rays will be taken. All in all, I am very pleased with my progress. It's pretty miraculous that I'm doing what I'm doing!! I never expected this and I'm very grateful. Caren
Guest guest
Dear Caren, congratulations on such a wonderful 6 week report. Isn't it amazing to be up and out and about. Of course, a word of caution is due here so that you don't start running before you heal We are glad you are doing well. Please, I urge you to continue to post not only your progress which is uplifting to others starting out but to post your concerns as your body starts to heal. Take Care. Guest guest
Hi Caren, Huuray for you!!! I am so glad to hear you are up and about and doing well! 6 weeks is very early in the healing so be patient with yourself. There is nothing that you are not doing now that you cannot reclaim later on in your life...you know, clean house, trim fit body, busy social life....all that can come back to you as your doctor and body tells you that you are ready. Celebrate the small milestones! Just last week I was visiting with Martha who is just shy of her 4 year anniversary and we both have been delighted to see that this last year for us has had those moments where we went " Wait! I can do that now! " . Of course each milestone is important, but knowing that each one build upon another helps to keep you feeling positive when they stop coming daily, then weekly, then monthly....and then only yearly. I am not saying this will happen to you, but you are now coming into a healing period that many of us have found difficult....somewhere in that 8-16 week post op time frame when it is possible that you just feel overwhelmed with it all. You still have lots of healing to do, you can still have pain and stiffness, you family and friends can tire of you, the patient, and it can be hard to stay positive. Just know that it is a phase that most of us went through...and some even needed additional support, and that is okay. If nothing else, we are here to help you over " the hump " or " bump " , should you hit it. Anyway, pop the corks, and welcome to the other side! Take Care, Cam
