Guest guest Posted December 5, 2006 Report Share Posted December 5, 2006 Me again - I just talked to Bob, 's husband (at 4:30). They finished up at about 3:00, and Dr. Hu said everything went fine. She said that she was on a roll and had to stop herself from doing any more. Also said that she lost blood, but not as much as she usually sees people lose during this procedure. Bob is waiting to see if she's going into ICU, or she may just go straight into her room. If that's the case, then he will stay there with her tonight until I get there tomorrow. The surgery went quicker than expected and she is in recovery now. I''m sure there are others who might post more, but I wanted to let you know she is through the first surgery! He told me it was his opinion that he could recover the needed curvature within the scope of the new fusions. Sorry I do not have a good handle on the terms or physiology involved. rested quite comfortably most of Tuesday night and in fact told me at one point that her pain was no worse than normal with her pre-surgical condition. She did have one anxiety attack which we believe was a result of getting a little behind on the pain medication curve. She came through with quite a bit of swelling of her face and neck but that is already starting to subside as of Wednesday morning at 5:45 AM We met with and Dan Emrie and (or ) on Sunday and seeing how great is doing was truly inspirational.
