Guest guest
GB Re your comments about Triphala being good for all 3 doshas, I was told by an Ayurvedic consultant that she was not going to recommend it for me as it would be too drying. And castor oil just seized my bowel up completely. The consultant said she had never come across anyone whom castor oil had that effect on. I tend to be very sensitive to some foods and herbs. It just shows you how different we all are. What works for one does not necesarily work for another. Sandy Re: re plaque Jo Colonics and enemas are good to an extent. However, they only work on the colon. The colon is 6 feet or so. the small intestine is 15 or so feet. That has to be clean also. The best way to do that is with food. Also, colonics and enema overuse can put the colon out of use. Try taking a Tbsp. of castor oil and a tsp. of triphala soaked for a few hours in a cup of water before going to bed and another when arising if the previous does not work. Everyone is different. Take the remedies according to your Ayurvedic dosha. I cannot tell you that because I do not know you. For instance, vata people need more oil. For instance, Castor oil is very nourishing for vata (and has a laxative effect.) Pitta need bitter herbs. Triphala is good for all 3 doshas. Guest guest
Sandy I don't know why the consultant would think triphala is drying. It contains one herb for each dosha. I know quite a few Ayurvedic docs and none has ever said triphala was drying but in fact moisturizing. From your description, you indicate vata symptoms. Haritaki is the herb in triphala for vata. By the way, of the 3 doshas, vata is intimately linked to the colon. Haritaki is also intimately linked to the colon. You could try hatitaki by itself.
