my friend just made this comment on my facebook page:

flour. "

This is the same women I had this conversation with two years ago because she

was trying to tell me I could eat all the caterer's stuff because they only

used white flour.

I essentially did :-p  I tried at the end to sound a little nicer, but how can someone be that stupid???  I mean granted I had a mom who baked, but I don't ever remember a time in my life when I didn't know what "wheat" was (And I've only been diagnosed for the last four years or so)  lol, oh and I just saw your last comment, yeah, I was tempted to throw out a bunch of words, but luckily it was online and not in person, so I contained myself! I am reminded of a time I went to my

grandmother’s for a birthday celebration. She kept insisting I could eat the

bakery made cake because it was made with “flour, not with wheat”. She then

said, well, you can eat the middle, can’t you?

NO.

I said.

She shut up.

Honestly though, I am tempted, every time

someone says something that stupid, to offer to come over to their place and

eat it, just to test it out. The only caveat? Any “reaction” I have, I get to

have it on their living room rug…

lol, yes, I've had people tell me that one too!  Although I think its only been people in restaurants, not anyone I really knew (nono, the soup only has a little FLOUR in it, no wheat!)  And then there's the pasta thing, there are an amazingly large number of people who have NO idea where pasta comes from (I think they think it grows on the pasta tree). I think a lot of peoples' confusion on this stems from the fact that the bread industry call the two types " White Bread " and " Wheat Bread " , even though they're really both made of wheat.  I've always thought that terminology was stupid.
