I find flax seeds aren't nearly as dramatic as psyllium. They do, however

have considerably more nutritive benefit for the body than psyllium. Another

thing I do if I want to simulate results similar to psyllium is eat about 2

tablespoons of hulled pumpkin seeds and 10 almonds each day. Those and the

flax are great lubricants and add good bulk. They're also anti parasitic.

Add water to a small container holding the almonds and seeds. Because the

pumpkin seeds look funny I generally add 3-5 drops of citricidal (grapefruit

seed extract) to the water. I rinse before I chew and maybe I'm destroying

nutrients...but my pumpkin seeds aren't moldy and they'll keep in the fridge

for several days without growing stuff if I forget to eat them. Soaking the

nuts and seeds makes them far easier to eat and a tiny bit more filling.

You have noticed how flaxseeds act when wet haven't you? I understand they

do that in the intestines. I think it's Schulze's psyllium formula

that includes whole flaxseeds. They stick to damp surfaces and develop a

slime that makes 'em not release easily. They're nearly impossible to chew

whole because they slide off your teeth. That's why I grind them in the

blender. I do add whole flaxseed to oatmeal and other whole-grain cereal

but even after soaking and cooking I still can't get one to stay between my

molars long enough to chew it.

On a toiletries list I'm on they talk about using flaxseed goo for hair gel.
