Hi Jodi,I am 8 months post revision, but I remember going through exactly what you went through trying all the different pain management techniques and medications. I personally hate taking meds and that was one of the big reasons for me to finally agree to surgery. And I am so glad I did. Anyway, I took Tramadol and Mobic which is a NSAID up till surgery. I tried Lyrica, but I found it made me blow up with sudden weight gain, so I stopped it. Another thing that helped were topical anesthetic patches (and I can't remember their name)that I would put on my lower back (2) and they would last for 12 hours. They helped me a great deal. Ask you doctor, I'm sure they know what I'm talking about. They are like big band-aids. None of us want to go through surgery again, but sometimes it's the only answer and I can tell you that if done right with the right surgeon, you can find relief. Hope this helps. I live on the east coast, but would be happy to be a long distance mentor if you need. You can email me directly a dturovac at dot com.Donna>> Hello,> > It's been almost a year since I was officially diagnosed with flatback syndrome and 30 years since my Harrington rod surgery. Tried pain management injections which wore off after a few weeks, was taking Tramadol with acetaminophen twice a day as well. Pain got worse and has greatly affected my mobility and has made me increasingly tired. Doctor has now given me prescriptions for Lortab and Lyrica which I don't want to take, but may not have a choice due to the pain. Anyone take these medicationsand have they helped? Planning to have surgery, not sure exactly when, scheduling CT scan with dye and other pre-surgery tests. I'm anxious and nervous about having surgery again. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Also looking for a mentor or a few mentors, would really like one on the West Coast if possible. Look forward to hearing from others. Thank you.> > Jodi>
