Fisherman’s Wharf:  Bubba Gumps

& The Rainforest Café.  I personally have never eaten GF at Bubba’s,

but that is because I will go into anaphylactic shock if I eat shrimp, and, I think,

there only GF options were shrimp.  I haven’t been to The Rainforest Café

since 2005, but they accommodated me back then & I was happy.  The GF

options *were* limited, but I

actually considered that a blessing since they have such an extensive menu

& I would have had a hard time making up my mind otherwise.  BTW,

Rainforest is a PERFECT place to take kids, as the whole thing looks like a

tropical rainforest, complete with animatronic animals!

Union Square:  The Irish Bank.  I have eaten there a few times.  They are

really good about checking.  It’s a pub with sports playing on TV, but I

would totally take my kid there.

Cal Academy:  Believe it or not, they have GF options!  Yes, really.  I was

shocked.  My husband went into the food area to get himself something to eat,

and came back with spring rolls for me.  I asked if he was SURE they were GF.

He said yes, one of the employees had pointed to a section of food and said

everything there was GF!  I couch this information is these terms because I did

not verify it with my own eyes.  I did, however, scarf the spring rolls, which

were SUPER yummy, and I did not get sick afterwards, so that, at least *is* GF…

As for sushi, though it is not in the

areas you listed, if you want sushi, go to Minako, in the Mission.  They use mostly organic

ingredients, and they have a bunch of wheat-free options.  (They list them as “wheat-free”,

but I can vouch they are actually GF).  Yes, you can have GF TEMPURA!  The

owner is a friend of mine, so she really gets the whole GF thing.  They are

very kid friendly.  In fact, the menus have a bunch of kids drawings inserted

into them!  Oh, and, no need to bring your own soy sauce – they have it

there!

Can anyone recommend some child friendly

GF restaurant choices near Union

Square, Fishermans Warf, California Academy of Sciences.

I am aware of amicis but that is about it. A good sushi

place would work too.
