Guest guest
Depends on the brand and flavor; most are probably gluten-free but that does not mean all are. Maybe you can guess from the label if it doesn’t have gluten, but you won’t know for sure until you check with the manufacturer. Flavorings are always suspect and barley-based flavoring is not required to be disclosed. Some brands may be out because of cross contamination. I recommend looking up the brand and flavor you want to use on the internet (see my post 8445 on Nov 9 if you have questions about how to do this) for a quick answer. I can't imagine what would be in it that would be suspect. But then again I don't really bake so I wouldn't know anyway. Melita
Guest guest
Yes--Pam is correct that you should check the ingredients and call the manufacturer if there are any questionable ingredients. Several years ago, as I recall, Duncan Hines frostings used to be on the " gluten free " list. Now several varieties of them have wheat listed as an ingredient. P.S. I've begun making my own simple frosting/icing out of powdered sugar, butter, milk, and vanilla. There is a lot of stuff in the canned frosting that isn't good for us even if it is gf. --lp palmer@... ________________________________________ From: [ ] On Behalf Of Pam Newbury [pknewbury@...] Sent: Sunday, November 15, 2009 6:48 PM Subject: RE: [ ] GF frosting Depends on the brand and flavor; most are probably gluten-free but that does not mean all are.
