Guest guest
Dermatitis herpetiformis is associated with CD. It affects the skin, but it requires ingestion, as I understand it. I don't know much about gluten allergies. You could be allergic to something non-gluten in the shampoo. H. I was told by my gi that gluten is only a problem ingredient in skin and hair care products if it gets in your mouth - gluten isn't able to travel through your skin. Of course, if you have an allergy that might be different; he was giving me advice pertinent to having celiac, not a gluten allergy. -----Original Message----- From: <changeartist88 > Sent: Fri, Nov 13, 2009 2:48 pm Subject: Re: [ ] FW: Palm Sugar: gluten free? It's my understanding that some products (like herbs and spice, and even grated cheese) can have an anti-caking agent in them that might contain gluten. It's these hidden sources, in surprising places that are problematical . My shampoo had wheat in it. My scalp was getting blisters , and I couldn't figure out why til I read the label more carefully. It was a japanese shampoo that was 100% natural...but not 100% gluten free. Valenza -----Original Message----- From: TrVerb@... Guest guest
I tested negative for wheat allergy, but I still have skin issues that clearly are tied to the products I use on my face and hair. Once I removed all such products that contain wheat derivatives redness, itchiness, splotchiness all subsided and my rate of hair loss declined. I think there still are a lot of unknowns about how gluten affects us. On Fri, Nov 13, 2009 at 6:50 PM, Harper <flatcat9@...> wrote: Dermatitis herpetiformis is associated with CD.
