HELP! Repeat endoscopy results

Much will depend on you individual situation: how bad the damage

was when the initial biopsy was done compared with how much healing has occurred,

how well you have done in keeping out the gluten, how fast your body heals,

your nutritional status, stress (which can impede healing), etc. Your

doctor should take all those into account when deciding whether there is cause

for concern.

On my husband’s second biopsy (after a year of good

compliance on the diet but with many mistakes) there was still significant

damage, but also significant healing had taken place. Because the damage

was so severe on the first biopsy, the doctor was not concerned because the

progress made indicated a good response to the diet even though healing was

incomplete.

Remember, you aren’t absorbing nutrients well because of

the gut damage, so every bite has to count nutritionally in order to give your

body the resources necessary to heal the damage. It takes time to heal.

You may want to ask your doctor what other reasons they have for

considering lymphoma as a diagnosis. Are there other symptoms of concern

that have led to this suspicion? Also ask why they think 8 months is

enough time to completely heal. Is it because the original biopsy showed

minimal damage, your health is otherwise robust, and your nutritional status

optimal? Or has the doctor read clinical studies that suggest healing

should be complete in 8 months? You may want to do some research before

hand on this topic before talking to the doctor, so you can site studies that

may contradict the notion that 8 months is enough time to heal.

All in all, there are many questions to consider before you get

overly concerned about lymphoma.

Pam

I just got my repeat endoscopy results back. After 8 months

on the diet, my biopsy revealed " partial healing. " My doctor seems to

think the celiac should have totally reversed at this point, and now wants to

send me for a CAT Scan to rule out lymphoma. I am, naturally, freaking out.

Anyone go through something similar???
