Guest guest
Hi all, FYI. I contacted Kraft about their Planters Fruit and Nut Trail Mix since I picked up some free at an event and wanted to be sure before I ate it. The label does not include any gluten ingredients and does not mention anything about gluten items being processed on shared equipment. But, just to be sure, I asked about cross-contammination since some of their other Planters products do contain forbidden items. See the response below. Has anyone else had success with Kraft products, or the Planters Trail mixes? Hi , Thank you for taking the time to contact us about your concerns and Planters. For every ingredient that Kraft purchases, we require our suppliers to fill out an extensive questionnaire, which includes a complete list of allergens both directly added and indirectly added through cross contact within the supplier's manufacturing facility. We then develop the ingredient statements and allergy information statements that are declared on our labels based on our formulas, the allergen information we receive from our ingredient suppliers, and any unavoidable cross contact allergens that come from our own manufacturing facilities. We have thoroughly researched all possible sources of allergens and have appropriately declared them on our labels.Again, thanks for contacting us, and I hope you'll continue to enjoy our products. Guest guest
Wow, nice to know they demand to know about any chance of cross-contamination issues from their suppliers. Seems like most companies will tell you that they don't have cross-contamination issues but that they can't vouch for their suppliers. -----Original Message----- From: <kristin_boston@...> Sent: Thu, Mar 18, 2010 5:17 pm Subject: [ ] Fw: Your Comment/Question Hi all, FYI. Guest guest
I spoke to Kraft at length a year or so ago. They assured methat they have a very strict policy of listing allergens both as ingredientsand if processed in a plant that also processes the allergen. I have relied onthis and treat Kraft as my safe brand. I haven’t had any issues but, ofcourse, I may have been lucky.
