Guest guest
Dear Members, Just wanted to update you all on Carol's progress since her surgery for a non cancerous mass on her brain. was kind enough to share her progress with me so I'm passing along the info. Carol had a rough go of it, after surgery it was truly touch and go, and they did have to go back in and remove more of her skull to help with the pressure from the swelling. Since then she has been sent to rehab and is doing better. She is up walking. She has weekness on her right side. She also has to wear a helmet till they go back in and replace the bone they removed from her skull. She has some trouble talking and getting her point across, which is frustrating her. All in all she is making progress, and has come back from a very scary problem. Boy when we think we have had a tough year, just think of Miss Carol, revision, bolt removal, and now and non cancerous brain tumor. At least bad things come in three's, and now only good can come her way, Hunh! I'm including her address at the rehab facility, lets flood her with cards and good wishes! Guest guest
a suggestion for Carol, that seemed to work for my brother with his speech impairment, was to have a communication book, either with just words or picture & words of the common responses & items. This helped cut down a lot of frustration on my brother's part and it gave the other party a better idea of the concept that he was trying to get across. Since his hip replacement 5 years ago, he still has that book/card sheet, along with the journal that was kept with he was in hospital. just a thought. I'm glad she is finally starting to do better. She has had a rough go this year.
