My celiac daughters and I eat movie theater popcorn frequently and have never

had an issue. I used to be diligent about checking ingredients but have never

found any gluten in popcorn.

If anyone has had a different experience, I'd appreciate knowing.

Subject: [ ] movie popcorn -- safe?

Hi there,

Has anyone eaten safe movie popcorn at theaters in the East Bay or SF? I'm

interested in hearing about the big theater chains, and the art house theaters.

thanks!

When I ate movie popcorn, I would get sick four out of five times. I

finally gave up. I think it's as likely that it was a cross

contamination problem (the food service people also handle hot dogs)

as something in the butter flavouring.

However, this was at least 5 years ago (I can no longer eat corn), so

maybe the ingredients are different now.

I always eat the movie popcorn; I don't get the added butter because I just don't like added butter, but there is nothing in movie popcorn itself that should make a celiac sick. I can't speak to any cross contamination issues, though I've never seen anyone touch the popcorn with their (glutened) hands...
