Guest guest
Hi everyone, I went back to the doctor today. All numbers are completely normal, even better than last time. I asked him about the brain fog (could it be ammonia or the prednisone). He said that there was nothing to indicate that ammonia would be high, and that prednisone can do funny things, but that he wouldn't suspect it since I am on a lower dose and all of this just started. Probably just mental overload. I did ask him how we could know if there was still damage going on if our numbers where good. He said that the AST and ALT are used to indicate inflammation, but that the real ones that indicate ongoing liver damage are the albumin, billirubin, and prothombin time (Jerry just sent a post to that affect). I guess I am doing pretty good, since 10 months ago - AST went from 1815 to 29, ALT from 1528 to 18, BIL-D from 11.7 to .1, BIL-T from 13.5 to .6. Albumin had dropped to 2 and is now 3.5, and couldn't do an initial biopsy because of prothombin time. He said today that all I had needed was the encephalopathy to be in liver failure, so I feel really lucky! Hope everyone else is doing OK!
