Guest guest
>Has anyone on this list done the Master Cleanse? If so, what are your > >thoughts about it? I've done the master cleanse, as well as water only fasting for periods ranging from 3 days to 10 days, and 14 days on juice fasting. My experiences have convinced me that fasting is an effective modality for removing toxins from the body. I have done over a dozen fasts like these. Generally, the first day is the roughest to get through, as most people are used to eating when they want. I just get focused on something else to keep my mind off food. The second day is also a little rough, as the toxins are starting to be released, and I usually feel kind of sluggish and tired. By this time, I don't even really want food. The third day is when things start to clear and I feel really, really good. By this day, I begin to feel light on my feet, clearer headed and cleaned out. The digestive system has had a break and lets my body it knows it has enjoyed it. Hunger is not even an issue, and I can pretty much act like a normal person, even though I haven't eaten for a few days. At this point I can go for another week without eating, and feel no hunger, but I will get cravings for food--mostly junk foods--that will drive me nuts. (But NO hunger--just cravings.) Fasting with either the Master Cleanse or water only has been probably the single most effective detoxing therapy I have used to regain my health. I recommend it. Guest guest
That may be a good sign! Did you have pain behind your eyes at all before the cleanse? I am questioning because i have pain and pressure behind my eyes and I take billberry for the pain. Years later I now suffer from dry eyes. AND...I read that your eyes reflect the condition your bowels are in!!! So I am really looking in a way to improve my bowels, perhaps would improve my eyes. I had been diagnosed with Candida overgrowth but doc's wont put me on any further medication. My stomach and gut is feeling quite itchy and jaggy. Candida can travel to any part of the body and I am wondering if this Master Cleanse killed Yeats? Guest guest
I have candida, so did not add the sugar while doing the Master Cleanse. I had great results with water only, adding lemon to a glass, less than once per day. I have the same pressure behind my eyes. It has gotten better with my improved diets and my fasts. Pamela B. Guest guest
Hi, I haven't done the Master Cleanse and don't know any more than what's said here: http://www.curezone.com/cleanse/bowel/master_cleanse.html .. So I can't give any advice in the context of that cleanse. But I can tell you that when salt water is taken as a part of a yoga bowel cleanse, at least 16 cups of salt water is drunk during one and the same morning (with certain physical excercises in between to make the water move better through the system), and a reason for this water normally being quite easy to get down is that the water is warmer than luke-warm. Luke-warm salt water can give you nausea and taste bad, a bit warmer water (not so hot that it can't be drunk in a straightforward manner, but clearly more " hot " than " lukewarm " ) is much easier to drink. I would guess the reason for the water being luke-warm in the Master Cleanse is that it should hold the same temperature as our bodies. But, if so, I don't know if this is a well-grounded idea (will not the water achieve the same temperature as the body pretty quickly inside?) or something the designer has speculated. Guest guest
....but at the end of the yoga cleanse, you do clean the stomach by drinking a huge bowl of awful, lukewarm salt water and throwing it up (the latter part is not difficult). hg >I haven't done the Master Cleanse and don't know any more than what's >said here: ><http://www.curezone.com/cleanse/bowel/master_cleanse.html>http://www.curezone.\ com/cleanse/bowel/master_cleanse.html >. I am sure the syrup tastes better, but the molasses is not too bad. My herbalogist recommended going with the molasses. Caroline > Cleller2, > > I had a wonderful experience on the Master Cleanse. Guest guest
, Are you making lemonade to drink when you are ready to sit down to dinner? When I was on it, I had to make sure to ALWAYS have an immediate supply available. Even then it was a trial because I love to eat. I had to pray a lot and keep busy. Are you cooking the meals? If so, maybe you should cook them early in the day when you are less tempted. Also, the best thing to do when giving into temptation is to stop, sit and ask yourself why you are giving in--you are usually the one who has the answers. I learned this the hard way. One other thing, I read in a magazine for weight loss that a woman kept giving in to overeating when she had just gotten home from work. She stopped one day and thought about it and realized she was tired and was eating for energy. So she started taking naps at that time everyday (about 45 mins.) and finally reached her goal weight. I also found that 90% of the time, when I needed either to not eat because it wasn't the right time, or was fasting, I was tired. It was like my brain was wired to eat when tired!!! So you may just need to reschedule your cooking time and take a rest. I hope this helps. God bless, KJ
Guest guest
, Also, you may need vitamins. Your body may be asking for more nutrients that the lemonade is not enough to support you. God bless, KJ
Guest guest
Hi Millco2, I have done the Master Cleanse for 7 days at the most. I didn't use cayenne. I saw my skin clear up, my weight dropped dramatically, I had energy and others told me I was 'glowing'. Overall, it is wonderful, I didn't even feel hungry!!!!! I would say that it is a wonderful cleanse. My only problem was I was so used to eating (a bit of an addict) so I would run too food if something was too stressful. I hope my next cleanse will be better. I hope this helps. God bless you, KJ ----- Original Message ----- > > We are new to this kind of thinking, and were wondering if > you 'experts' could help us. Guest guest
Hi , If you go to the homepage and click 'files', then click 'Diane Trudeau' and you will see a .pdf download for the Master Cleanse. I don't know which one of the fasts are the best, but I would put " fast " in the archives on the bowel cleanse homepage, try google search engine to see what they have, and you can also get information on the Master Cleanse from curezone and other fasts (the link is at the bottom of the e-mail). I hope this helps. God bless you, KJ
Guest guest
Hi Kim, Congrats on your cleanse! I would drink more. Try to drink a 10 oz glass of the lemonade every waking hour. More pure water in between. Drink a strong cup of Smoothe Move Tea before bed. Either do a salt water flush when you wake up, or another Smoothe Move tea. If you are at all hungry drink MORE! Don't worry you will lose weight- don't starve yourself you need to drink a lot! Make sure you get a walk in everyday. Get a dry skin brush and dry skin brush 2 x daily- from the bottoms of feet in towards heart...fingers towards heart etc. You can have some herb tea like peppermint or ginger. If you need a little sweetener use a drop of stevia. Take a few good ginger baths. I make a line of Ginger products myself made just for the Master Cleanse that contain tons of essential oils and herbs and ginger and MSM, and mineral salts- they really help a lot with detox, circulation, lymph, and easing detox symptoms like aches and pains. You could also try making your own Ginger bath. Here is another great bath recipe for cleansing from one of my past newsletters: Detox Bath and Body Oil 8 drops organic Juniper essential oil 6 drops organic Geranium essential oil 6 drops organic Lemon essential oil 5 drops organic Grapefruit essential oil 1 ounce almond oil or carrier blend 10 drops of this blend directly in bath water or added to 1 cup of epsom salts and then added to bath. This aromatic blend helps rid your body of toxins and drains your lymph system leaving you feeling refreshed and clearer emotionally and physically. How long do you plan to go? I did the Master Cleanse every month for a year last year for 7-10 days. I suggest going at least 10 the first few times...and replacing healthy flora when you are done w/ acidophilous. Do some research on a raw foods diet too...this would be a great transition and way to lose a lot of weight too and be really healthy. Good luck!! Guest guest
--- thanks for the information, today is day 3 and i did not wake up too hungry at all. Only when i started thinking about it. I did a salt water flush and i did not get to much of a result. Not to be gross but everything was bright bright yellow. Is that normal? i have no headaches, no aches and pains. Unconsciencely i just had a taste of my sons pastina to see if it was hot. I am sure that is not going to ruin it too much I guess. I was expecting more " movement " then what I have, i did notice I have a runny nose and congestion. i am wondering if that is the cleanse working. I did drop 4 lbs so far. though it is just by the scale i do not notice anything loose on me yet, but hey it is only day 3. I was wondering though, i have a under active thyroid, will this affect it in anyway ???? I have to go find a dry brush now !.... Guest guest
I'm currently on day 3 of the Master cleanse and was noting that in order to break the fast after 10 or so days, orange juice was recommended for the following 2 days. I hesitate to do this only because of the acidity of the orange juice and the high glycemic level as well. Insulin will skyrocket! I'm not diabetic, however I was wondering if an alternative fruit could be used...such as watermelon - which I've found very effective in the past. Can anyone direct me on this? Guest guest
---i was doing really good, my tougne was white, and I was getting use to the salt water flushes (through a straw).the first time i did it, i stopped after a few days, When i saw the bright yellow bowel movements it freaked me out to be honest ! until i did some research, and i realized that was a good thing. I did the second one for 4 days, not too bad, I am working myself up to 10 days. I caught a really bad cold from my 5yr old and it settled in the chest. I needed some soup really bad, the lemon was just not cutting it, I think it was a combo of both detoxing and the cold. I am starting again monday and going to try and last till the following Monday, baby steps ! I would love to go longer. I have to add, i own a pizzeria and a ice cream store and i work in both, so I am around food all day long, It can be very hard some days to walk in that place holding my lemonaide. but I did it and hopefully i will make it longer this time !!!! thanks for asking !! kim In bowel cleanse , " mgsboediitodpc " <mgsboediitodpc@y...> wrote: > Well " K " how have you done on your MASTER CLEANSE? Guest guest
Morning All! I posted this yesterday on Oxyplus-Offtopic, but also wanted to foward it to this group. It was quite an experience that I found to be very beneficial so would encourage others to partake. One thing that was also so interesting was it not only helped with various toxins throughout the body, but it also transpired into other areas of my life; mental, spirital, and even with various relationships eliminating toxcity where toxicity was. Not a bad thing. I do feel that this is only the beginning and will probably have to do it regularly. Sometimes I wonder if the toxins will ever be fully eliminated! I mentioned on the MC list if I had only one word to describe the effect of the cleanse, it would be " awakening " . It just feels like the whole body kind of wakes up; body, mind & spirit. Would gladly recommend it to any to give it a try. During this time I did little to no ozone. Will be interested to see if I notice any difference when I take it up again. Something I found to be quite interesting is I didn't need any supplements while doing the fast. This was a real eye opener for me. Since coming down with cfids, I have always been very dependant on supplements. Either there is a whole lot of nutritional benefits in the lemon/maple syrup or we expand a whole lot of energy just digesting food that is no longer needed when refraining. At any rate, I did not feel deprived or lacking nutritionally in the least. I did feel very sleepy and achy during the first few days but not deprived. I actually kind of wanted to continue longer but my daughter came home for a few days, and I just wanted to call it quits. But all in all, it is something I highly recommend and will be doing it regularly along with liver cleanses to help acheive health. It did not " cure " me, but have to feel it did benefit me. Guest guest
A personal review of the Master Cleanse. I'm one of those who haven't posted for many years, but I'm alive and kicking . I just checked and found that my previous post was almost four years ago and the one before was four years before that. Sorry about that. I am on Day 13 (the last day for me) of my first Master Cleanse and just wanted to tell you my experience. I hope it may be useful to anyone thinking about doing it. There is so much rubbish written about cleansing and dieting. For every cleanse/diet out there you can usually find as many glowing reference for it as reviews that attempt to rubbish it .. Sometimes it is obvious that the reviewers haven’t even tried the diet. I have done maybe 10 fasts (using Arise and Shine products) with colonic irrigation over the past 10 years and I've tried several methods of dieting including Atkins and Taoist methods, so I'm a reasonably experienced dieter and cleanser. This is my first trial of the MC. As an example of what those that knock the MC say, I came across a website of an apparently independent organization that reviewed all the many diet plans that are currently in vogue. Of the MC they said something like: “Its benefit is that it is easy and cheap because all you have to do is go to the supermarket to buy lemonade and drink it”. Duh! Typical of the glowing reports are those websites propounding the virtues with words like: “This plan has all the nutrition you need and you can go on it for 40 days or more without any problem”. Indeed the founder of the MC said as much himself in the original guide. IMHO this is not the case. I don’t doubt that it is possible to go 40 days or more without becoming ill, but I personally would not want to risk putting my body through such a long period with inadequate nutrition. And it is inadequate. Fact is that the combo of maple syrup, lemon/lime and cayenne pepper delivers between 750 and 1,500 calories (depending on whether you drink 6 or 12 glasses a day), which are predominantly made up of carbohydrate in the form of sugars. They are natural sugars and so eating the syrup does not carry the same risks as would the consumption of refined, processed sugar and chemical sweeteners, yet the syrup and other ingredients do not deliver anything close to the standard daily requirements of nutrients - except Vit C. For this reason I personally would not risk following it for more than 14 days, which by all accounts is a sufficient period of time to have a beneficial effect on your body and perhaps cure a long list of ailments. I took the trouble of calculating the complete nutritional values precisely and putting it all together in an Excel chart. If anyone would like this you can email me and I'll send it to you. I’ve found that the MC is very easy to follow and has led to weight loss and a desirable change in body shape. I have no idea how efficacious it has been in fixing or preventing medical problems because I had none that I was aware of before starting the Diet. However I have had a generally high level of energy throughout the 13 days that I have followed it so far and my overall feeling of wellness has markedly improved. Today I went jogging for a mile or so for the first time in six months and felt really great. For me, those reasons make it good enough to repeat regularly. And the MC is WAY easier to follow than any other cleanse or diet I have followed in the past. The accepted wisdom is that a reasonably active adult requires 2,000 calories a day. At 50+ and leading a mostly sedentary existence, I believe that my own requirement is around 1,500 – and that would apply to most of the adults I know. We all tend to overeat. The MC calls for the consumption of 6 to 12 ten ounce glasses a day. I did it with 2 litres of fluid, made up as 1,600ml water, 200ml syrup and 200ml lime juice (because that was easy to measure). I took this as 6 large glasses a day and that delivers 750 calories. Given that this was half my daily energy requirement it is not surprising therefore that I lost weight. At this level of intake the MC is in fact a semi-starvation diet. That said, I never felt hungry after the first two days. I have found that I normally digest food in about 2.5 hours. People differ on this but not by that much – between 2 and 3 hours fits all. Therefore by pacing the six glasses of lemonade to around 2.5 hour intervals I managed to optimize the absorption of the nutrition while avoiding hunger pangs and headaches due to low blood sugar levels. During the first two days I supplemented the prepared drinks with the occasional swig of pure syrup whenever I felt a little hungry. I think this is fine to do at the start. I didn't feel the need to do it after the third day. Basically you need a little extra until your system adjusts to the new level created by the reduced energy intake. I am 180cm tall. Before starting this Diet I was 90kg which is a ‘comfortable’ weight that my body has seemed to gravitate towards for the past 10 years. During the MC my weight has fluctuated up and down daily (yes it actually went up on three days), but has steadied at 85kg for the past three days. I've therefore lost 5kg. A word on the recommendation to take laxative tea and the salt cleanse: yes! I cheated at first and took nothing and so naturally nothing was eliminated. That has to be bad news because the bowels are filling up with toxins during the cleanse. In my experience you'll need to take something every morning and night from Day 1 to keep things moving. Conclusion: The MC is highly recommended as an easy-to-follow general cleanse and is effective in weight reduction/body reshaping too. If anyone has had different experiences I'll be very interested to read your reviews. I'm particularly keen to hear if anyone found that the MC cured any ailments.
Guest guest
Well, Henry. Nobody can ever accuse you of overstaying your welcome! lol That was the most analytical description of the MC I've seen. Just wanted to mention (although it says not to) I continued with my supplements while doing the cleanse. They say not to so that you can get your organs a rest. It didn't seem to matter one way or another with me. I also continued taking the supplements when I did the liver cleanse also, and that is not recommended either. Guest guest
They are probably not recommended because they do nothing - they pass through too quickly and are not absorbed. But, if you want to waste your money.......! :-) Best wishes and much love, Ken Ken Gullan Institute for Research Integration (IRI), San Diego, CA 92106-2424 IRI is a 501C(3) non-profit corporation established to help children with developmental difficulties.
