Guest guest
Yeah, I definitely would not do a maple syrup cleanse. Hmmm, skin problems & a bit of extra weight can sometimes be helped by doing the body rub twice a day for several months, while eating fairly simple food. I'm a great proponent of the body rub, which makes for fantastic feeling skin! And since the skin is a major excretory organ, the body rub helps to cleanse the internal body too. I know, somehow, the body rub just doesn't sound as exciting as "the master cleanse". Dottie Re: master cleanse Thanks. I was at a friend's place y'day and she had the book, I flipped through it. She's thinking of doing it. It says to do for 10 days. I thought wow cleanse, get rid of the extra pounds I put on, clear up my skin, etc. Well, I'm sure I couldn't handle 10 days and I don't like the idea of the maple syrup. This chick eats sugar tho vegan so I don't think the syrup would flip out her body as it would mine.I like your idea of the ume shoyu kuzu and sweet veggie drink If I cleanse I may try that.Peace,Reggie> >> > What does everyone think about that cleanse?> > You know the lemon, maple syrup and cayenne pepper for 10 days?> > Reg> >>

Guest guest
Well, it's the old standby macrobiotic diet #7, of eating soft rice or rice cream for 10 days. A small sliver of umeboshi plum is eaten, if I remember correctly with the last meal of the day. In my present condition, I would not even do this fast. When we did it as a group, it was a great learning experience - to see the effect of food on different people. Some people only fasted a couple of days, while a few went beyond the 10 days. Before I became macro, I did a water fast for 7 days & felt so terrific!!!! It convinced me that food affected me more than I ever thought possible. As I added food back, I kept a diary & discovered that corn & wheat caused edema & cravings for sugar. At that time, I had read Herbert M. Shelton's books, Sheldon Hendler, & others. They have some case histories of healing that sound as good as many of our macrobiotic stories. However, I believe that maintaining a healthy lifestyle is better than trying to fix oneself with multiple cycles of cleansings. I believe that eating less in general, chewing more, doing the body rub, and maybe small fasts is more balanced. A friend fasts 1 - 3 days every Thanksgiving, Christmas, & Easter. He & his wife spend these holidays serving meals in homeless shelters. Not only is his body resting, but his spirit is too. And while on the TasteOfHealth Cruise, I was impressed with the Monks not eating past noon, which allows their systems 16 hours to digest & rest. Probably not too many of us are so disciplined! It seems that we Americans are infatuated with our food - from eating to cleansings :-) Dottie [sPAM] Re: master cleanse> > > I've actually been wanting to do this cleanse for a> while now, so I've loved all of the discussion =) > > One thing I've noticed is that several people has> mentioned that they prefer certain herbs to do a> deeper, more thorough cleanse. Guest guest
before i went macrobiotic i did the master cleanse. i only lasted 4 days, not because it was too much for me but simply because i needed to chew. i decided to do it because i had heard it would help reduce my cravings for sugar, which i was HEAVILY addicted to at the time. since my palate was clean transistioning to macro was very easy. it didn't completely break my sugar addiction though, i used the kuzu, brown rice syrup tea to help me with that. regarding the body rub, i LOVE it. when i first started, i was very toxic and my skin was a mess, i had rashes and bumps. one month in though i noticed my skin was much smoother and the rashes had vanished. a product of my skin rub and the macro diet for sure. for someone who has been macro for years i don't know what the master cleanse would do for you, but ginger compresses and the skin rub sure sound like a better idea ) kimberly > > > > > > What does everyone think about that cleanse? > > > You know the lemon, maple syrup and cayenne pepper for 10 days? > > > Reg > > > > > >

Guest guest
Hi , I still like using the brown rice syrup tea in the afternoons, when I want to sit down & relax a bit. Hmmm, maybe even some right now, would taste good.... BTW, welcome back! Or since I wasn't a member of VeganMacro when you were, maybe I should just say "Glad to meet ya!". Guest guest
Funny because years ago I did this rice diet that was gross-I can't believe I did it. Well, I did take off weight but filled up on diet sodas I mean what was I thinking? LOL I'm hearing several people who just stopped eating for a bit usually when they were sick and just carried on. Guest guest
thanks, ! sounds good! when you read the Master Cleanse book, he is talking about inducing an accelerated state of detox by not eating. His opinion is that when we are feeding the body daily, 3x/day, we don't give it ample time to detoxify. He advocates using the cleanse as a seasonal thing, 3x/year or so. I personally needed it before macrobiotics, as I used a ton of spices(and oil) and needed to cleanse my palette and become more aware of food intake. I've done cleanses with herbs, and they do seem more stable. They also take longer, but if it means not stressing the body...! would be fun to try the brown rice and umeboshi fast mentioned. I also need to look more into herbs, as I suppose I haven't broadened my definition of mb into the herbal kingdom! Thanks for saying all that! > > > > > > What does everyone think about that cleanse? > > > You know the lemon, maple syrup and cayenne pepper for 10 days? > > > Reg > > > > > > > > > > -- > Food & Life Coach Marque > " Love Your Body, Love Your Life " > www.Marque.com > 310.453.7525 >
