I have to say a hearty AMEN to that! I have a mitral valve prolapse that really

gave me some scary spells for awhile until it was diagnosed. I was on a calcium

channel blocker for a year or

two, but then a holistic-minded dr. told me that it was a sign of magnesium

deficiency and that magnesium is a natural calcium channel blocker. That was

approximately 10 years ago, and with

magnesium I have had no more spells from the MVP in all those years. A friend at

work found it very beneficial for her irregular heartbeat too when I suggested

she try it.

Is this the same magnesium citrate you find in the grocery store with the

Metamucil and other over-the-counter gastrointestinal remedies?

I have used magnesium citrate instead of magnesium sulfate (epsom salts) for

liver cleanses. Now when I see a bottle of magnesium citrate it makes me

nauseaous.

How much of the liquid do you take?

*****Huh???? When I was a hospital nurse, we used to use Mag-Citrate for a

serious laxative. I think I'd prefer my magnesium in a tablet. In fact, I do

take one every day.

Patti,

Metamucil also contains psyllium, I'm not sure what type of magnesium might

be in it.

I chose magnesium citrate because it is from plants and in the liquid form

it is easily digested from the stomach to the blood stream. To replace

magnesium into your body it is not recommended to use magnesium oxide

(ground from stone) or magnesium sulfate because these cause a laxative

effect. They are not absorbed as easily into the blood stream but rather

make it to the bowel.

The blend I use is magnesium, calcium, Zinc and Vitamin D made by Flora

http://www.florahealth.com It does not have the laxative effect.

Here is a very informative site on magnesium

http://www.execpc.com/~magnesum/list.html#aging

Scroll down about half way, past the reports, to find information on how

magnesium can help certain conditions.

My husband took 1 tsp(500mg) 2X daily for chest pain and arrhythmia's. I

took 300mg once a day for fatigue and stress related palpitations. We now

we just take maintenance doses of 1/2 teaspoon daily.

Be well,

Kim
