Guest guest
We have previously had many discussions on this list with regard to promotion of commercial interests. After hearing from many list members as to their preferences, many with opposing views, I came up with a compromise that takes a middle road. Since this list deals with local (bay area/central California) celiac issues, and since many members do want to hear about local restaurants and businesses that offer products and services of interest to celiacs, we allow limited announcements regarding those businesses. I have requested businesses who post on the list to limit their announcements to once a month, and then only if there is a special event or new product/service. We have also allowed businesses to respond to direct requests for services. This allows folks who want the information to get it without those who don’t want it feeling like the list is too commercial. There is also a requirement that any businesses who post are local. I have done my best to moderate the list with this in mind. If anyone has a concern about how this policy works on the list, please e-mail me off-list and we can discuss it further. Again, I realize that some do not want any commercial announcements on the list, while others welcome them. Hopefully our policy strikes a balance between the two. Guest guest
Sounds like a good compromise, Pam. I certainly support it.
