Guest guest
A business posting an advertisement on the listserv is NOT the same as a listserv member recommending a business or product. The main problem with having businesses be on this listserv is that it dampens honest conversation about products. I don't believe this listserv was set up to be free advertising for anyone. It seems to me that if a company wants their products known, they should be advised to send their information to the listserv moderator, or some other designated listserv participant, who could then post the information for the company -- this would allow all of us to get the information while not discouraging us to openly comment on the products offered. (I have to say I was disconcerted to find Extreme Pizza advertising on the listserv a few days after I commented negatively on the crust they use. . .) And I don't like that when people post questions about products, they get responses from people hawking the same or competing product. Also, while it is wonderful that some people on this listserv are starting up new gf businesses, I think it would be best for them to take the discussion offline or onto another listserv specifically set up to discuss that business. I would prefer this listserv to remain dedicated to being a layperson's support group, not a haven for free advertising or free business advice. --Tristan -----Original Message----- From: Wallace <AWallace@...> Sent: Mon, Mar 15, 2010 10:25 am Subject: RE: [ ] Re: Gluten free wedding cake In my opinion, when the business advertised is for gluten free options I appreciate it. It is informational. I ALWAYS want to know about gluten free options. I’m not sure why you seem offended.
