Guest guest
Dear & Aqui folks:I find your response to one of our Bay Area Celiacs forum members very disappointing: "Yes, we are actually amending the card to note that the items are prepared in a shared environment. We are choosing to leave the choices on the card as many people have expressed only a light intolerance to gluten and we wish to allow the customer to make the choice. Lastly, we are noting that none of the dishes can be completely free of glutens in a shared environment. "For many celiacs and other gluten-intolerant people, it is sometimes hard to determine how adverse the impact of gluten is on their bodies because some of the symptoms are not overt. And there is no medical diagnosis of "light intolerance," though there are varying levels and types of response to gluten. Leaving the chicken taquitos and chicken flautas on your GF menu is irresponsible because of the "shared" fryer environment. My wife and I want Aqui's to continue to succeed, as we enjoyed eating there many times before she was diagnosed because of the very good food at reasonable prices. Unfortunately, we have to advise everybody we know with gluten problems not to eat there because of your lack of commitment to the needs of upwards of 11% of the public. Our family and friends whom we have taken there also say they will not return in support of my wife. So, thank you for all the good food in the past. I'm sorry that we, our family, and our friends can not return.
